Actually, the S2000 is for the wife. We hope to pick it up this weekend.
As far as parts being expensive for the NSX. That is true; they tend to be more expensive than other Honda/Acura parts, but its all relative. Parts for any exotic (esp. Italian ones) are always more expensive.
Let me start off by again repeating the S2000 is an awesome car but its no NSX. Parts are not really crazy expensive. The only maintence Ive done on my 92 with 44k is routine stuff like oil changes and other little stuff. AC is ice cold, brakes are cheap, tires are tires and its really not that bad. Car gets great gas mileage, cheap insurance and looks just like an 01. Did I mention how fast it is? If you need financing, a warranty, a convertable, or a newer car.... get the S2000. If you want to be the only one in your town with a cool "exotic" and have a very rewarding driving experience then get the NSX.
Any way you go, its a HONDA and you cant go wrong. The Deep Pocket thing is a Myth.

I just sold my 91 NSX, with a mere 32K miles, and - believe it or not - I have just bought an S2000. The NSX was a terrific car, in this case in near pristine condition when I finally said goodbye. It had PRESENCE like no other vehicle I have owned with the exception of a Jaguar XKE. Why did I move on? For one thing it was getting old - 15 years is a long time in car terms, and I began to feel as though I was driving a combination of an old car and the crown jewels, needing to be careful, etc., which is not really fun. The second thing is that quick handling and tossability have always been more important to me than speed, and I always felt that the NSX was just a wee bit too big o really throw around in the way that I like. I guess after eight years, I had basically DONE the NSX, and it was time for a change. Other thoughts: the aluminum body of the NSX makes it tricky to do any kind of body work, the tan seats that some cars have usually look very ratty, the sound system is prehistoric. On the positive side, it is to my eye a visual work of art and the engine sings.
I've never driven or owned an NSX fore warning. A decent man. trans NSX that is 10-13 years old w/ under 50k miles will still run close to $45k. A brand new S2000 will run $30k. The S2000 seems like an easy choice comparing the performance difference between the 2 cars. The NSX is awesome and rare, but it doesn't out perform the S2000 enough to make it worth it to me, especially in a used 12 year old state. No matter how well maintained, a 10+year old car feels very different from how it did brand new. And if you've got new NSX kind of money, I still think a C6 Z06, 997 CS, or Viper coupe would be a much better purchase w/ money left over.
I agree with most of the comments.
My bro has a 92 white nsx. He's gone through 3 clutches in about 60k miles of driving, inside driver door handle broke, driver window motor fail, climate control broke, subwoofer broke, passenger side speaker/amp broke and he spent a couple thousand on a 100k maintenance service. It seems like a money pit, but dang, the stares that car gets, kinda makes it all worth it. For him at least, not me, i'm too cheap to own a 14 year old car!

Radio is shitty but for $1000 you can do a decent sound system and 100k maint. is a couple of G's. T/Belt, water pump and a valve adjustment isnt a ton of cash.
Windows need their track's cleaned and updated with "window-fix-it-thingys" for under $20.
Climate control... well, shit happens.
Ive had countless S2000's and nothing turns heads like an NSX.
We closed the deal on a 2004 S2000 tonight (will pick the car up on Saturday). It's a Silverstone/Black, original owner with only 10K miles with OEM front lip, side skirts and trunk spoiler. It also has an upgraded stereo, speakers w/ sub + amp added. It looked and drove like new and we couldn't pass up such a good deal.
I still love my NSX, but driving that S2000 was fun. The S2000 is our first convertible and I never really knew how fun going topless would be. The car is for my wife, but I see myself "stealing" it from her on sunny days.

3 clutch's and 60k of driving is insane. Im using a stock clutch on my supercharged NSX for 10k with no signs of slipping at all. Maybe he is hard on his car or clutch for that matter.

I agree with everything else, my car's windows need re-lubing also and the window fix it thingie. My climate control seems fine at this time and since my car has 26000 miles and verified from Jon Martin that everything is ok.
If you find a clean and well maintained one then you should be fine. That's the only thing about finding a nsx......is to find one that has been taken care so you don't need to spend too much on getting it to run normal.
Once you hit the go fast crack pipe then there is no turning back.

I can't wait til I pick up a s2k....congrats mickey on your car and hello to you too kid......see you guys on prime.
Well take cares everyone.....I really look forward to joining the s2k guys someday.....everyone here is so friendly and helpful. You guys are a great group of guys.
