2001 S2000 New Owner here!
After drooling over the car for years and years, I finally got a 2001 Silverstone Honda S2000!
I been trolling on these forums for some time but now I'm an official (and very proud) owner
I was wondering on a few things and was hoping someone could assist with answering these?
1. Sometimes when I drive, shifting up gears seem to have a bit more resistance. Just gotta force it in a bit more... is this normal? (example) If I'm not moving, and I just go through the gates, it shifts into the gears smooth as butter. However, when the car is moving, there's some resistance that I need to push into harder.
2. Third and fourth gear seems to make a whining noise when I'm not giving it any gas. It'll go away when I put in neutral or give it some gas.?
3. About how long is the life span on the tires in 'normal' use?
4. Will the smile on my face ever go away?
Thanks and Merry Christmas everyone!

hello and welcome!!!
1- shifting while the car is at a standstill is a bit different than shifting while the car is moving
while there is a difference...your car should still shift like butter
2- this has never happened to me....is it a loud whine?
3- you can get upto 30,000 miles on your tires on normal use
4- after 3 years of ownership the smile or smirk never goes away while driving the car

Yes, part of owning this car is going through some tires.
Expect to get about 8,000-12,000 miles out of your rear tires, depending on how spirited you drive. You will probably get around 15,000 to 20,000 miles out of your front tires.
The smile hasn't gone away, and it probably won't. Just take care of your car; like Chazmo says, check your oil and tire pressure often.
