i had the base 2004 z33, sold at 32k miles. i love it, and shouldn't have sold it. so i just bought a 2005 s2000 a week ago. i am falling in love with this, also. to quickly compare,
the z is more refined, and feels more solid/quiet on bumpy roads. by contrast, the s2000 feels more raw: more engine noise, road noise, the sound in the higher revs, lighter and hence "more tossable" etc. i thought the throws in the z were short, the s2000 is even shorter! i like it. obviously the z has more torque. on sunny days, with the top down, the s2000 is more fun. i thought the z had little cargo room, (2 golf bags), the s2000 has even less (1 golf bag). only 2 speakers in the s2000 (needs upgrade).
overall, straight line, the z is better, but overall driving around town, i give the s2000 the slight edge.
thanks for the comparision from an owner of both cars.. ... Can't wait to get my s2k

Try putting two golf bags in a Z trunk... nah it won't happen... But it will on the S

There is no replacement for displacement, but you will appreciate the heritage and rawness of the s2000

If I were you, I probably would've kept the FD and kept fiddling with it, but I like to tinker... You already know the differences between the S and the Z. The S is a lot more agile, is less car all around with similar performance on the track. If you would rather buy a Z if you had the option tho. I wouldnt sell yourself short for a few G's. I'd hold off and get whats gonna make you 100% happy for now and the future. I dunno about you but when I buy a car I'm never planning to sell it... Not these type of cars anyways. Its gonna have to get wrecked or stolen. And yes I just knocked on a piece of wood.
