Default s2k or 350z?

im going to get a new car in about 3 weeks. im leaning towards the s2k, but 350z is pretty good too. people say that the s2k doesnt have enough potential in tuning as the 350z does. opinions?

btw, i like the s2k body much better than the z, but the interior of the s2k seems too plain compared to the 350z.

You came to an S2000 board. What kind of answers did you expect?

I was looking at the 350Z also. BUT I wanted the convertible. I know the vert is almost out and there are plenty of pictures of it. I'd get the S2000 over the Z roadster.

Now looking at the Z coupe, I wouldn't pay MSRP. They cut corners to make it affordable, the interior to me showed it. Flashy but cheaper materials. Not a knock, since they kept the price low. Get it if you're interested in a coupe, I wasn't. For a sports coupe you won't match it in price.

For a Sports Car/Convertible, nothing touches the S2000 at that price.

Yeah, get a test drive in each and decide for yourself.

I'm very S2000 centric, why?

s2000 was built as one of their flagships. You won't find the f20c in any other honda/acura. The platform was designed from scratch. Basically everything was. It's a droptop. It only comes w/ a manual (so you don't get those posers that drive sports cars w/ automatics). I've grown accustomed to low end torque, high output vtec engines.

Z has a shared platform and engine making it a great bang for the buck b/c they share everything. It's amazing Honda can offer the S for the price that it sells.

Is true that the S2000 doesn't produce high HP gains with little mods and that it takes some major mods to give it serious grunt but you need to ask yourself this:
The Z has not been out long. Does anyone know for a fact and would be truely honest in saying that a particular mod produces a "marked" gain? For example, how do we really know if an ECU mod to a Z will typically give "X" HP? And will it give that HP without sacrificing other issues? Will anyone be honest and say so? Any sort of early mods of this nature will be welcomed with a ticker tape parade. Any shortcomings or glitches will be met with silence. Sure, you'll hear people say, "They took an engine just like this one and built it up to a gazillion HP". BUT has anyone done it to a production model Z by a normal average human being?
Somebody just posted about a 750 HP S2000 in Australia. How reliable is this story? And "I saw on the internet about a guy who's got a friend who's sister's boyfriend has a Z and it ............" DOES NOT count!
Bottom line is: It's your money. Do what your intuition tells you.
