test drove both....didnt really notice much of a difference. considering i thought my 86 handled like it was on rails either of the two are great i think lol. unfortunately the person that was suppose to buy my GS flaked on me, so it might take longer than expected. I dont want to get an S2K and have payment added from previous car unless monthly was lower. oh well, i did like both and i think its just going to be a question of preference. btw anyone know of someone that wants a GS430? hehe pictured above lol

Welcome!

An MY03 came with a glass rear window. Check the top for rips...that's probably the most common issue. New tops are a pain to install as a DIY and expensive to pay someone else to do it.

The transmissions are so good that they will let an unsuspecting driver shift at redline of 3rd into 2nd. An over rev like that will blow the motor immediately, but minor over revs will weaken valve retainers or lightly bend valves.

To help guard against buying a damaged car, get a compression/leak down test. And you might even find a decent speed shop that does a lot of Honda work and have them inspect the valve retainers to see if any are showing signs of cracking.

Also, MY00-03 use more oil than the later cars (s2ks have banjo bolts to squirt oil on the cyl walls to keep them cool...takes more oil to keep cyl walls cool at 9k than at 8k rpm). Some folks just aren't used to topping the oil every week and that can lead to oil starvation. Normally, a rod knock from a spun bearing is pretty loud.

Otherwise, it is a normal car. Listen for unusual noises etc. Not sure where you're located, but there are s2ki regional forums...might see if a more experienced owner would go check out the car with you.
Dude!!!! Negcamber said everything what I was going to say! Good job bro.

Let me fill in though....

1) Inspect the leather, as our cars being top down, the ultraviolet rays beam our seats and leather use to be skin, so what does sun do to skin? Make sure it is pretty smooth, if you feel cracks or wrinkles, then most likely previous owner pull the top down too much, left the car top down, and rarely leather cared it.

2) As our car is convertible, it's converted a lot. 1 problem leads to another, since putting the top down allows the sun to hit our seats with ultraviolet rays, converting it too much also can cause holes. There are some sharp parts with the convertible mechanism that pokes the vinyl (our soft top), and leaves small holes. It's usally found at the same spots as well. Best way to prevent further poking is I basically just put velcro to cover up the holes and velcro on the sharp objects.

3) Check engine oil every week if you plan to rev it above 6000 RPM every drive, because it does burn engine oil (and you can smell it when on high RPM for along time). I was a victim of engine oil starvation, and it cost me up the a$$.

To me, those are the most important, and having a 2003 s2000, all of the ap1 recalls were already done in 2002, so your good. The 2002+ also comes with a glass rear window for your information.

For sure that is the car you were looking at? There is zero mention of it being supercharged in the description on the site, but that's why it has the additional gauges.

Looks pretty clean though! Doesn't seem like a bad deal at all for a supercharged s2000 as long as it runs well.
