Even if it ran with the break in oil for 15k miles it would probably be fine... I say go for it. Oh, you already did! Congratulations

Congrats on the purchase. The painted plastic piece is likely a tow hook cover for the bumper---possibly an extra the previous owner purchased.

Back again - yes, it's a tow hook cover for the back bumper. Enjoying being back in an S2000 after a 5 year gap. Midlife crisis? They're just jealous...
