Stretching Service
My new car has been delayed yet again (at least i have my existing S ) it was supposed to delivered in june, now looking more like mid august
however the dealer has said verbally that the deal still stands although i'll have put on nearly 8k more miles on it, & they will delay registration until sept for the new reg.
the question is :
i've already had to buy new rears & windscreen, and the 18k service interval has just passed , how will this affect the car if i dont pay for the service
i.e run for another 2k miles before trade in? the oil is topped up & ok.
is there any danger in this?
thanks

Warren, is the dealer you get to service your car the same one who is "upgrading" the car for you ?
If so its worth dicussing the position with them - they might use the fact that the car hasn't been serviced at the propper interval as a reaon to give you less for it.
I wouldn't have thought a couple of K would hurt (some owners rack up many more miles than others between services) but this is a performance car and is bound to need more care and attention than your average family hatchback.
Personally, I'd discuss it with the dealer so you know where you stand.

Last thing you want to do is to give your dealer a "way out".
As W6DAN says, discuss this with your dealer and find out what his position is.
You mentioned that you had to pay for a new windscreen - was this a voluntary decision? Most insurance companies will pay for a new windscreen (bar the excess) if chips/cracks can't be repaired

SNAPPER:
For most cars under 3 years old, if you don't service the car within 1k miles of the required service interval, it invalidates the warranty on it.
If I were you, I'd go back to the dealer thats supplying your new S2000 and ask him to service your S2000. Then use the fact that he hasn't supplied on time as leverage to push down the service cost.
Not servicing on time is NOT AN OPTION! coz if anything goes wrong even remotely transmission / powertrain related before you hand over the car, you're basically screwed.
TBC
