Default Aspiring s2k owner, open please!

Hello all, i am looking into buying a s2000 in the next 3-4 weeks so i am currently doing my research and trying to learn as much as i can about these cars. I currently drive a srt-4 but am dying to get out of the fwd platform. I am looking for a car that can do it all; be reliable, be fun to drive, be able to take to the track or an autocross if i ever want to, ride with the top down under the miami sun, all while looking beautiful, and i have deemed the s2000 to fit this! I have learned all there is to know about my srt-4 and have performed all work done to it with the exception of going inside the motor, even taken apart the transmission, but i am new to this platform so i look to you guys to give me some input. I have read that the weakpoint on these cars is the differential and axles, at what power level would i have to be worrying about this? And is there any other weakpoints worth mentioning? How much power will the stock clutch hold? I am going to be financing one, looking for about 50k miles, and after a couple months so i can pay it off I would start looking into modifications and possibly forced induction. What type of supporting mods would i need for forced induction with the exception of the obvious fuel system upgrades?

Heres my current car:

well from what i have read, from bolts ons and no forced induction, your not getting past 300 whp, so its safe to say, i wouldn't have to worry about a clutch till i go forced induction right?

the clutch is going to go A LOT faster with any FI (even low powered kits). From my research its not worth the hassle of waiting

If you get 240whp NA you are a God, FI makes killer power in these cars. Unfortunately, if you drop the clutch on stock power, you'll eventually kill the stock differential. If you roll onto the power you shouldn't have any issues though.

Here is an excellent resource for people seeking more information on the S2000:

The diff is known to blow up even on stock power if you beat on it (launch the car) enough. That being said, you can still make 400whp+ on stock diff and trans as long as you are not launching it.

I recommend you look at the FI forum and check out the stickys and other peoples builds.

Also, before anything, I noticed you live in Miami. I recommend you get a hardtop, seat locks, and a good alarm. Hopefully you have a garage to park the car in.

I want a softtop, but i will be getting seatlocks and the baddest clifford i could get, sense change in pressure and temperature and motion detectors, so if anyone where to rip my top, that bad boy is going off.

Another question, is there any highly reputable shop or individual as far as these cars are concerned? I am the only one who touches my current car, and if i ever had to then i would take my car to nemo at ragetek, who literally helped dodge design these cars, the dude knows these cars like the back of his hand

If your looking for someone local... Andres at Raw racing has a pretty good rep with these cars. Hes in Ft.Lauderdale.
