Default Which to buy?

Nearing the end of this summer, I plan on buying myself an s2000 but being new to all this, I don't know whether I should shoot for the AP1 or AP2. I hear good things from either model and that some people prefer one model while others prefer the other depending on their uses.

Here is my plan for using it... which model do you think i should shoot for:
To first explain, i will be selling my Trans Am to buy one so i feel well prepared for the rear end to kick out (since people say the AP1 has a higher tendency to do so). That being said, i plan on doing a few mods to boost up the power a bit. Which motor handles mods the best (not forced induction)? I dont want it to be ridiculous though because it will be my daily (taking me to school and work). I do plan on taking it to the local track and autox ON OCCASION(probably once a month). Also, is one model more dependable than the other? Does one engine have cheaper maintenance? Is the torque gain in the 2.2 that noticeable? Are there model years that i should stay away from (so i wont be upset after, say, buying one with the plastic rear window etc). I'm mainly looking for something that will be enjoyable to drive everyday, can pull some cars at stoplights, and will still have the handling/durability to bring to the track.

Tell me what you think and why!

Thank you

i hate when people say AP1's have a tendency to "kick the rear end out" maybe if youre an idiot...almost all instances where drivers have unexpectedly lost the rear end of this car has been their fault...parts are the same prices since its the same motor minus the internals in the block...theres not much power to be had out of these unless youre going forced induction, theyre built very well in stock form...and as far as pulling on car at stop lights, if you want a stop light racer, buy another car

The best thing you can do is search for one of the many AP1 vs AP2 threads. The topic has been beaten to death on this forum many times...for good reason, as both are awesome! You won't get a thorough answer from any one person because everyone will be biased toward the one they own. I own an AP1, so I say it's the better one, but you've got your own reasons for buying the car so I can't speak for you.

In all honesty I think it would boil down to whether or not you'd spend more for a newer car with lower miles. You won't be disappointed with either of them.
