yeah if you can find an 02 or 03, pick that up.

aside from the rear plastic window, the 00 and 01 models have a couple flaws compared to the 02/03... including the "clutch buzz" tsb, a slightly different tune on the ECU (the 02/03 is a little more lean, and makes for smoother power)...

the rest is just aesthetic... like getting an 02/03 would give you a leather center console (as opposed to carpeted), a better speaker system, and obviously the glass rear window.

Also, a lot of 00/01 owners have reported their tops actually cracking and tearing in certain sections, normally right above and to the back of the side windows, where the top folds. Mine does it, and so does a lot of others... they updated the top in 02 (obviously to accomodate the glass window), and they addressed this issue as well, reinforcing that area on both sides.

Alright, thanks guys... We are goin to see the 2001 tomo, and i kno for a fact it has never and would never see snow or any weather really...

I think my dad is a little nervous about it, so im not sure how its gonna turn out, but the advice helps and ill tell him that 2002 and ^^ is the better choice, but first we got to make sure its not too much sports car for him, he may be gettin ahead of himself...

thanks a lot, and sorry, i did search but most stuff that came up was from 3 or 4 years ago, i wanted to see if i could get some updated info as well

get an 02+
leather center area
glass rear window
no clutch buzz

Those should be enough reasons for you to spend a couple grand more.

Also, get the color that you REALLY want or it will haunt you for the rest of your ownership!!!

I would only assume anyone with an '00-'01 would get their clutch replaced because of the TSB. I mean why wouldn't you?

When you drive it, try to see if there is any clutch slippage/failure or any roughness with the rear diff. Rear diffs are prone to going out and clutches are a pain to replace.

I prefer the 02-03 because of the glass window (lower maintanence) and the stereo upgrade (makes it easier to swap in high quality components), but I do not like the leather consol. It's cold to touch in the winter, gets HOT in the summer sun and it's more work to maintain.

Loooneybomber:

I have not been aware of any TSB on the '00-'01 clutch. As I have an '01 (no clutch problems -- yet) Im interested. Tell me more.

Thanks,
Richard

When I bought my '00, the owner told me about a TSB that came out because of the buzzing clutches. Before his warranty was up he went in, had the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate replaced because of it.

Maybe it wasn't an actual TSB but instead just warranty work?
