Buying a car out of state?
Horseless Carriage quoted me at about $1.10 a mile to pick-up my car in Connecticut and deliver it to my front door in Lexington, Kentucky. They haul cars in an enclosed trailer.
Pretty respectable company, with a reasonable price.
Nonetheless, I chose to drive my car home :-)

I bought my S2000 on-line in early 2003. It has turned out well.
Actually, I found it in an ad on S2ki. The seller was in Portland, Maine. I lived near Athens, Ohio, at the time.
I asked a lot of questions and we agreed on a price, with the stipulation that the car was as he described. (It only had 2700 miles on it, so it didn

I live in NY and bought my car from a dealer in Massachusetts. It had 11k on it and was the color and yr I wanted. Did all the negotiating on the phone, took the next day off work, drove my car 3hrs up there, did the deal, they cleaned it all up and I drove it home that afternoon. Best drive ever - it was end of June and about 91 degrees out. Heaven. And a great start to the relationship.
<-- This was me the whole way.

I bought my car from a dealership in Plano Texas. I live in Oklahoma City, OK. I found the car on the interent on a sunday called monday morning and had the deal done by that afternoon. I called my boss about 6p.m. and told him I was taking the next day off. I drove down to Plano looked over the car and signed for it. On the way home I was on the phone ordering my exhuast, CAI and Front Grille.
My Evo, R32, and S2K all came from out of state. The Evo came from CO, i had it shipped sight unseen (turned out to be good, but i wouldnt do it again), and R32 i got w/ 9K miles on it, flew to CT, and drove it 1200 miles back to AL. The S2k, i got off ebay, flew to MO, drove 550 miles back to AL. I havent had a "Bad" experience as of yet. Often times (depending on your state law) you have 30 days to add the car to your policy, during those 30 days, it's insured as a Newly Acquired car and you have the same coverages on that car as you do on the car that you already owned.. Most dealers will give you dealer tags or something. I drove the R32 with no tag and had no issue. I had a dealer tag w/ the S2k and had no issues. Best of look. Be sure to look long and hard at the pics. Carfax may be clean, but that doesnt mean anything. Check for unmatched body panels. Check to make sure each panel has it's OEM serial number on it, make sure it's not been painted over, if it was, find out why. You can't ask too many questions, if the seller gets "annoyed" at your questions, id back away from the deal becuase they likely have something to hide. Good Luck!
