This is why one should never take an S2000, or any ragtop, through an automated Carwash. If you are feeling lazy, pony up some dough and take it to a detailer.
Is something going to happen in the long run from taking it through a couple times a year?

Yes. Your seals will no longer function as they were intended; you will experience water leaking in your windows when the top is up. Plus the pressure that they use in those things is too harsh on your top. Even the touch free ones.
If you want to mess up your top and have leak problems, continue taking it through the automated washes. Look in your owner's manual and see what it says about automated car washes.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I've decided I have to take really good care of this car and do things properly. This car is worth it! So, I'll be hanging out in the Wash and Wax forums quite a bit :-).

If you want to save money - only read the wash & wax section long enough to get some basic information. Then run. If you stick around long enough, you will become a wacko and spend large portions of your paychecks on cleaning supplies, and be obsessed with every little speck of dust on your car.

In a pinch, I only take my cars through a "touchless" wash, never one with brushes.
