Default Evo nut, and now I own an s2000

My last car was an 03 evo 8.

It was setup for road racing primarily, and ran on revalved ohlins, a gt3037r, cusco diffs, and an rps twin carbon clutch among other things. It mad roughly 520 hp on the stock motor and head and I LOVED it.

Unfortunately I had to get rid of it in order to buy my first home. I have been able to save up a few pennies so I finally pulled the trigger and picked up an 02 sebring s2 with 50k for 15.5k. I hope that sounds like a fair price. I decided on the s2 as I really wanted to try and master the RWD platform, and I am assuming the car will be a blast on infineon and thunderhill.

So far I love the car. It looks FANTASTIC in my opinion and it is reasonably quick once it gets moving. The only thing I have done so far is remove the resonator as I just LOVE the amazing induction noise. I plan to pick up some kind of intake, a set of wider rims and run a 235 x 255 setup on some r888s or ra1s.

the one issue I ran into during some spirited driving on my local backroad was that the brakes seemed to fade after only a lap. I am guessing that the previous owner used cheap pads, but I hope that some hawk pluses may work better. If anyone knows of a good pad/ rotor combo that works well please let me know!! Thanks for reading.

welcome congrats on the switch. the brake issue is probably cheap pads. cause i believe alot of the track guys on here use stock pads. i've used the hawk and you can't tell much difference over the stock honda pads. good luck with the car. also when you drive it fast you'll feel more rewarded as a driver since almost anyone can be quick in a awd car

yup, cheap pads. and yes most people just run stock pads on the track since they do hold up nicely. also, if you're looking for performance through an intake YOU WONT GET IT. intakes do not add the kind of performance to this car like other cars do. (performance chips do nothing as well, hell exhausts dont do much either lol) sad but true the intake is extremely well designed (have you noticed it takes up half the space of the engine compartment ) anyways nice choice my friend had your old car, those things are fast, but imo the S is more FUN!!!!

enjoy!

Thx for the compliments on my old car.

I bought the s2 fully knowing that I wont be able to make it as fast as my old car, but I dont plan on it. My evo ran 1:52s on infineon full course on pump gas (390hp or so) If I can get my s2 to run 2:00 ill be happy. The biggest mod ill need is the driver mod. As someone posted earlier, ANYONE can drive an evo fast. I used to own an e36 m3 before the evo:

It waw pretty well setup, but I never had time to take it to the track. I ran it on a032rs primarily so the handling was sublime. I plan on keeping the s200 on the shitty s02s for a while to I can learn to slide the car correctly.

If anyone is in the east bay area wants to go hit some back roads pm me.

Congrats on the new S. I don't consider myself a track guy by any means, but I have done two trackdays. On the advice of more experienced people, I switched to carbotech XP10s up front and XP8s on the rear. I experienced 0 fade at the track with this set up. I also used ATE super blue. If the car has 50k there is a chance that the previous owner didn't change the fluid, and that could also be a cause of the brake fade. I've never had a problem with brake fade on stock pads during a mountain run, but I tend to dial it back a notch or two compared to track and autocross speeds (cliffs and rock walls tend to do more damage than caution cones and gravel traps).
Have fun with your S.
