Be sure to use the correct brake fluid as well as pads, Motul brake fluid seems to work well for track junkies.

Please tell us more about the drift king sitting or driving in your car!

Evo's are hot. I used to want one, mainly because they're so much fun to drive and they have tons of interior room (at least compared to an S2000 ). But they were way too expensive at the time.

Congrats on the new car - you have a great color combo IMHO! As for your brakes, you cannot go wrong with OEM for the street, but when you get to the track you will want to switch to a DEDICATED track pad. Do a little research and you will find most guys serious about track driving doing what I do: buy cheap cast iron rotors for $35-40 a piece online and run dedicated track pads (ie. Hawk HT10) on them. Then switch back to your OEM pads and rotors after the event. It will save you alot of money if you are using the brakes for all they are worth and will also keep you from completely burning through a new set of OEM pads in one event - ask me how I know. Make sure to fully bleed out the old fluid and replace with something high temp (I use ATE). The stock brake sytem with track pads will really impress you.

Thanks for all the replys.

-slipangle, I used ferrodo ds 3000s on the evo with two piece rb rotors and motul rbf 600. I dont want to go as extreme as I kinda want to save a bit with this car. I Think Ill go with ur setup and buy the cheap rotors and switch pads for track as I dont go that often. I had massive fade issues with ate blue, but I blame the heavily used rotors and new pad combo. (bg waste) Where can I go to buy the $40 rotors, and Im assuming that u switch rotors as well after track day.

-stephenopoly, that was during american touge 2006. My car ran the 2nd or third fastest lap a 1:03.xx The only car that was really faster was the XS enginering r34 skyline on questionable hankook semi slick tires. ( we were supposed to use standard street tires) All the footage is on the AT2006 dvd. Funny side note is that someone on this forum made one of those Pwned picks of my car on jack stands at the event after my lower intercooler hose blew off!

-shrek, i am having my mechanic take a look at that VERY soon. My good friend had his ap1 motor with 20k pop.

I have another friend that might be switching as well. Dont get me wrong, if I needed a cheap car for all around speed, open track or drag racing, then the evo is the best choice, but the car is wasted if not racing, and since the car makes so much grip, its hard to slide around unless moving at moronic speeds.

Welcome Rs_evo8.

I hope you come to love the S as much as the Evo. Completely different beasties. The Evo is like a sledge hammer, and the S is like a Ninja's kitana.

Modding the S is expensive and complicated. You'll have to go forced-induction to get anywhere near the kick of your Evo, but that's a very expensive road to take. WOrth it, though, to those who like it.

Me, I stay stock. The S's limits are high enough for me.

Yes, the carbotech Xp10/Xp8s are dedicated track pads. The squeak and dust like crazy on the street. I only drove them on the street when I was driving to the track. I did not switch out the rotors, and my brakes held up fine. However, I was running on street tires. People on race rubber might want to have a dedicated set of track brakes as well.
