Is it exciting driving a S2000? Newbe intro.
Greetings everyone, my name is David, I am from the Detroit area, currently I reside in Troy New York. My first car was a 1973 Grand Prix. I like vehicles that require little and pay huge dividends. I imagine it's exciting driving a S2000. My daily driver is a Ridgeline and I was lurking at the Ridgeline website before I purchased it in September 2005. For many years I have not wanted another vehicle, lately I have had the hankering for a roadster. It seems like I have to buy it before I can drive it? There's something wrong with that.
I may get something for winter but not a S2K. In 2005 I purchased the Ridge after tracking its release. I've probably read about these things as much as I participate in them. Vehicles to me are as interesting to me as anything. In Advance, I really appreciate all your photo essays and stories about your life, and your vehicle. Thank you for letting me join the S2K forum. I hope to hear from some of you have already posted and maybe learn what you've experienced as you get in the cockpit and go fast.
Happy Motoring!

First, welcome to S2KI! I got a good deal online on my car and wasn't able to test drive it due to travel time, etc. but it DOES seem fishy. Have you asked why they won't let you drive it? Are you buying it from a dealership or private party? Either way it seems like they should let you drive it, especially if it's being sold in "as-is" condition with no warranty. S2000s are great cars but the past few years a bunch have gotten into the wrong hands. I'd really push for a test drive/inspection by YOUR preferred mechanic prior to any nonrefundable transaction. Also, have you carfaxed it? Do you have pictures? What's the condition/asking price?
A little more info goes a long way.

No you need to have a test drive first before putting any money down on it. There is a thread on what to look for when buying a used s2000. I would take it to a mechanic as well, and have them do a compression test. You do not want to buy an abused s2000. They can last forever, as some members have more than 250k
