Default A few quick/general S2000 questions !

Hey guys,

Well gentlemen it is spring time and I have finally reached the age and income level that I can afford to have a few different cars now. I currently have a 2005 MDX and a 2001 Acura Integra and I am looking at finally purchasing my realistic dream which is the S2000.

I am looking for a used one 2002-2003 and I had a few questions.

1) From my understanding the 2002 model recieved some minor changes including a glass rear window and a so forth. Now Im pretty sure that the 00-01 model can undergo a top change and get the glass rear window installed. Is this true? How hard and how expensive would this change cost at Honda dealer?

2) Does anybody have a brochure handy that they could fire off the colors available for the 2002-03 models? I really like the blue, yellow and I like the silver as well but it seems like a different silver from the 00-01. Is this true?

Anyother suggestions before I go ahead and pick one up?

Thanks a bunch!!!

Evan

1- yes, and new tops are about 1k, I think that includes the labor... not sure though

2- There are two silvers, Silverstone (about 35% of all S''s are this color) and the daker Sebring, both of which are available in 02-03, but Sebring wasn't originally offered. By 2002 all the "min line" US colors were offered though. The main caveat here is that if you are in Canada, I'm not sure if these colors still hold true.

S2000 colors by year - http://www.carsdirect.com/2003/honda/s2000/colors
Look in my sig for the S2ki color poll.

The darker color of the two is the silverstone. The top alone is 1K and who knows how much a dealership charges to do it. Theres alway some 02-03 tops up for sale on the 4 sale board but they get eaten up pritty quick...

1. A glass top conversion for an MY00-MY01 requires some new hardware in addition to the softtop. You should contact hardtopguy.com and get a quote. I think it's 1500-2000; it's a lot of labor.

2. The MY02 silver was Sebring, which is much lighter than the Silverstone of MY00-MY01. Silverstone returned in either MY03 or MY04, I can't remember when. They co-existed for a few years. The blue you're speaking which was also introduced in MY02 was Suzuka, a light blue. Suzuka was discontinued in MY06 when Laguna blue was introduced (med. dark blue). Spa Yellow was introduced in MY01, and was discontinued in MY04 when Rio yellow (more orange) was brought in.

Other colors available in MY02 were New Formula Red, Berlina Black, and I think white too.

Oooh, you're in canada. I missed that. You guys got pretty much the same deal except there were some different interior colors available, particularly with GP white.
