Default A few winter questions.

I just had a few questions about the s2k and how it faired in the winter, any help would be much appreciated

Well for one i am currently deciding between a few cars such as teh s2k, g35, and 350z. I currently wish to purchase a s2k but the issue of winter has come up time and time agian. Yes, i've been through many of the postings already but there's one question i have that was not answered ( maybe i didn't check hard enough)

Well here goes, if i plan to get a s2k i am pretty much set on purchasing a hardtop for the harsh Canadian winters ( getting a beater isn't an option since im going to be broke ). I already plan on purchasing winter tires as well, but i was jsut wondering about the hardtop and if there were any problems with it, especially during the winter.

Does it tend to leak due to the fitment, which in turn would cause rusting to occur?
Any problems that i should know about the s2000 and how it fairs during winter?

Although I don't use mine as a daily driver in the winter I do have a hardtop on from Nov-April. I've never had any problems with leaks, or problems of that sort. For all those that drive the S in the winter months I feel the hardtop is a great addition. Good luck in your hunt to find the car you want.

You could get a beater for less than the cost of a hardtop

A hardtop is very nice, but not required equipment. Many locals daily drive their S

For two winters (this one included) I have been driving my S2000, as a daily driver, without any winter problems.
Of course you dont floor it around corners on icy/cold/wet roads = asking for trouble. The ABS (= guardian angel that never sleeps) helps every now and then.
I cant give you any comments about the Bridgestone's because I put other tyres on as soon as I bought the car (Michelin) but I do use them all year round without, like I already said, any winter (and summer) problems.
The heater works very very well, because it has to warm up a small box.
And on a sunny winter midday.. you'll be able to drive open in 6 seconds.
Thats why I don't have (and don't want) a hardtop.

You might think its just an ordinary car.. and maybe it is.

Well..

THINK AGAIN!

IMHO it is a all year round car.

This is my first winter with the S (soft top only), and I've had no troubles/problems at all. However remember that winter tires are a must!

Winter tires, winter tires, winter tires...

OK, I thought I needed to say that three times just to get my point across.

Best wishes, Stripez!
