Default Finally getting one! What do you think?

Well s2ki.com members, after searching on here on and off for 2 years I think I may finally come into an s2k.

I have found a 2004 locally to me with only 2,237 miles on it for a negotiated price of $24,400.

The odd thing is the car is owned by an import/export company that primarily deals in salvaged vechiles for export. They have 3 non-salvaged clean title cars on there lot, a bmw, a mercedes, and this particular s2000.

Initially I was not interested at all when I haerd the type of dealer they were, but after talking to them further they have assured me the car is in mint condition (I test drove it today and it did seem to be) and I have nothing to worry about.

I'm still speptical but to ease my concerns they agreed to go with me tomorrow to Honda and let them do a full inspection on the car. I made an appointment with the local dealer tomorrow morning and they cliam they will inspect the car mechanically, for body damage, and flood damage for $87.

I asked them to show me the information on the title and apparantly it had one owner in Jacksonville Florida where it was originally purchased in March of 2005 with 400 miles on it (I can only assume it sat on Honda's lot for a year and a half and racked up some miles). After that this dealer bought it in July of 2005 with about 2200 miles on it and it has racked up about 70 miles since then.

The details seem sketchy but they agree to let Honda full inspect it and make sure the warrantee is still good and all that stuff.

I will be leaving on a trip to NC with it tomorrow evening if I make the sale, does anyone have any helpful input?

Thanks in advance! God's blessings!

- J

Well its good to hear your getting an S2k, it sounds like a good deal.... the only advice I can give is to stand there while the Honda inspector is doing his job and pay attention that he doenst miss a step in inspecting the car.

good luck
and congrats on the new car.

I hope it is. I only hope I can trust Honda's inspection. I'm not sure if they will let me supervise the whole time or not.

Out of curiosity, what color is this particular S? There was a Suzuka Blue at the dealership right by my house that was out on the lot for ever, and I think it disappeared last Spring.

I think if everything checks out at the Honda dealer, then you should be fine (assuming the title checks out as well). The price is great (Blue Book should be close to $28k...not that it matters really)....Good luck!

Thanks! It's a Silverstone with black interior.

So you all don't think I need to be concerned with the cars history?

Two things: compression test and diff fluid change / examination. That'll tell you a ton.

Did you carfax the title to prove it's not salvage?

Chazmo:

I plan on taking it to Honda tomorrow for inspection. I'm assuming they will do the compression test and differential inspection? I carfaxed the title and it shows clean, the owner information is a bit odd but I guess it shows how it only has 2237 miles, I pasted it below:
