It's debatable which model year is the best s2000. I like the 2000-2003 beacause of the 9k redline and I like the 2004+ because of new cosmetic changes. If I didn't have my 2003 s2k, I probably would get an 04-05 s2k. I really like the new headlights, rear tailights, rear bumper, new center console, radio door and the new wheels.

AP1 rider... I've answered this question before. The best year car is the one that's in your driveway!

Seriously, they're all great. An older model will be less expensive to buy, and that's an advantage if you intend to mod your car or whatever. So, it depends on you.

Best wishes.

Well, for racing purposes, I suppose the biggest issue for you is the 2.0 vs. 2.2L engine change (in 2004, US/Can), depending on the rules of your racing. I also seem to recall that there was a change in category from B-stock to A-stock in autocross at some point, but I don't think that's based on the car year (I think they just did it nationally because the S2000 was dominating B-stock).
