first "proper" car
Sorry, everyone, I think I posted in the wrong place.
I'm thinking of buying my first "proper" car. I'm nervous that I might not be able to handle an S2000. Any opinions?
At the moment I have a 2001 Honda Civic 1.6 5-door.
Roger, yeah, what are you nervous about, specifically?
(I deleted your post in the other thread, by the way)...

he's obviously seen that there is a new crash thread on here every day
Just take your time to learn how to properly control the S, don't push it in anything put perfect weather conditions, and let your tires warm up.

well its quite a bit more powerful than my current car and you often hear stories of rich businessmen buying powerful cars and crashing the first day because they can't handle it. Also, I'm wondering how differently a rear wheel drive car handles to the normal front wheel drive. I understand its quite different.
thanks everyone for your replies.

Roger, here's my opinion. The fact that you're asking this question, though, probably means that you're fine.
There's only a problem if you can't control yourself. It's really not the car that's a problem, it's the lack of respect that some owners show it.
If you just take it easy and enjoy the car, you'll never have a problem.
RWD is a completely different beast than FWD, though. Reactions need to be different. Really, that'll only be important if you start pushing things, so the strong recommendation is that you learn the car, and possibly take a driver's class.

No worries. Just either take a driving course or better yet (and cheaper) go to your local auto-x events. PLENTY of people there are more than willing to help and you'll learn TONS about your car even on the first day. I know I had several people willing to ride along with me, and give me a lot of pointers. (it could also be that I had a Type R
) All you need is a helmet (they even have some there, usually) and $30/event. (unless you're an SCCA member).
Also, I'm hoping you're keeping your Civic, because your practicality level will take a serious dive if you aren't.
