First s2000! Spa Yellow AP1
#22
I've put 38K mlles on my 02 S2k in the last few years. From my perspective, I have driven it in a very lively manner on winding country roads most of that time. I lost it once in my first weeks of ownership stupidly driving in the rain with worn out tires at 75mph on the interstate with cruise control on. Actually it was just a bit of a bobble, but it scared the bejesus out of me. Very dumb mistakes. I learned a lesson with no harm done. Lucky.
If you don't do dumb things like I did - no worries. The big problem was bad tires, rain, cruise control. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Since then - no problems whatsoever. Not even close. This ap1 is pure joy. What a wonderful machine. What a joy it is to drive.

I have an 01... the most rowdy of the bunch for stock suspension.
I actually find it extremely hard to step out, but I take every turn like Im driving a racetrack, every turn has a setup. lol
If you watch the s2000 nurburgring test, you will find out quickly, that the s2000 handles best with the throttle down. Lifts are bad. Keep your foot in the gas and it'll sweep around curves without issue. Going around a turn coasting is, well wrong, it needs gas to plant it.
Just my suggestions from a fellow Yellow

I too have randomly stumbled across that video. My first reaction was: "G-DAMN that man can drive. All the while doing a casual commentary of the car's behaviors and his own inputs." Then I scrolled down to the comments and basically everyone watch was losing their minds over this fantastic driver.
Lastly, your damn car is making me want to do a full exterior refresh. You saw my work on restoring my headlights and I thought that was good enough. But after seeing your car, I am not worthy!

But yea, really this car, handles exactly the way you'd expect with good throttle inputs, like in that video. Gas is friend.
Lol And thanks for the compliments, she does look pretty good for 224k huh.
Sorry I thread bombed.

Since my stupid mistake early in my ownership when it stepped out on me in the rain, I have tried several times to make it step out, but i have been unable to do so. This is on the street at speeds that are tolerable on the street. Of course, I'm in an 02, which is a cushy ride compared to you guys.
I do not claim to be a great driver by any means. But yes, my Dad taught me at age 15 (when all cars were rear wheel drive) to brake before the corner, and always apply at least some power during the turn. I do that instinctively. Don't come into the corner too hot. The set up is key.
