Default found an S2000 I want to purchase, need opinions

Hi,

This is my first post. II've been lurking for a while and have finally registered.

I am looking to buy an S2000. I rginally wanted to purchase an Ap2, but it looks like Ap1's are more in my budget.

I found a 2000 Ap1 with 75k miles for about $10k. It has a spec stage 2 clutch, tien springs, and sebring tuning mufflers. The owner has only had it for 3 months, he just bought an Ap2.

Sound like a good deal? Opinions please.

I'm going to use this car as a third car. I do a lot of highway driving, about an hour each way. I would also use this car on the weekends to occasionally auto cross.

thank you,

Glenn

sounds like a good deal, but:

it has only been owned for 3 months? ( why is the owner getting rid of it? how many owners has it had?)

it has mods on it, chances are it was beat on by some wannabe boy racer.

its a 2000, no warranty, first year s2k. chances are you may need some repairs, minor to serious

take into consideration that even with lower mileage, it may need serious time/money/effort/work

just a thought.

price/mileage/year sound good

if it is private, try to get it for 9500 and try weaseling out of taxes!

yes, it's a private sale. Owner said he is selling it because he found an Ap2 after he bought this.

It also comes with 17 inch wheels with new tires from an Ap2 and a carbon fiber hood.

PLEASE KEEP THE OPINIONS COMING!!!!

thanks

Glenn

Hmmm...I would be a little more cautious given the owner has had it for only 3 months and replaced it with a different s2k already.

get it inspected. If possible, ask for service records, who knows maybe the previous owner gave the current owner copies. The price is good though, I wonder how much the current owner paid for it?

Thanks, KEEP THE REPLIES COMING.

The seller also told me the top has a one inch rip but doesn't leak. Since this a 4th car it won't be in my garage. Will this be a big deal if it rains or snows?

problem ive noticed as these cars get cheaper, more people with lower budget re: maintenance come into play who might not exactly be your regular oil-change types

add up the problems, even a 10k 2002 starts to get expensive!
