Future owner!
Hello all!
I apologize, I'm sure you all are saying, "Great another future owner thread..."
But I've been creeping around here a lot recently so I figured I'd register!
A little background on me. I'm Matt, almost 23 years old and I live in NW PA.
I'm a technician at the local Honda dealership and I guess you can say I like my Honda's. My first car and still have it, is a Cypress Green 1996 Civic EX coupe I bought back in 05. Never thought I'd modify it, but I had friends with Preludes, Integras, etc and you know what happens from there! The car was originally automatic, but I had planned to turbo the D16Y8, so Sept. 07 did the auto to manual swap. Didn't do anything big since then, but did buy a spare motor I tore apart and started buying parts to build it up for turbo.
Soon after realized that working on my DD and having a possible turbo car, wasn't the best idea. Always loving the 96-00 Civic hatchbacks I set out to find a shell. Fast forward to October 2008, I picked up a Vogue Silver 1996 CX hatchback shell. (If really bored check out my old 20+ page build thread on ClubCivic.com http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=152073 ) My plan was to gut the interior, paint match it to the exterior (VSM), put in my turbo Y8 when it was done and autocross it. Plans changed January 2009 when I picked up a 2000 SI motor swap for a price I couldn't refuse.
Between October 2008 and April 2010(April of this year I got it on the road! Huge thing for me and was super excited) really touched base with painting with a HVLP gun, a basic motor swap, tearing into the GSR transmission I bought, bending/flaring fuel and brake lines, completely tearing the car down to nothing (exterior and interior) and so much more. I love the car because I've learned so much with working on it, and its a fun car to drive around(Still haven't autocrossed it yet) Unfortunately It still needs a bit of body work, a new paint job, a rebuilt motor since it eats oil, and a new tranny wouldn't hurt either. I don't have a problem with doing all that work, there's just something else that is on my mind now...
With all of that said, I guess that brings me to today. I've always loved the S2000. I think I can remember back in maybe 06 or 07 I really started to notice them. (Looking into my random pic folder where all the s2k pics started appearing haha)
They are amazing looking cars- having a very simple, yet aggressive look. I love the Honda racing heritage behind it and the whole reason and purpose the car was built- for the driver. I've driven a few here and there at work and I love every minute of it. Just working underneath it, you can admire how well it was built.
I originally had a goal to own one before I'm 25, but I'm a bit more financially stable now and I really can't wait till I'm 25. I'm hoping to save over winter and If I have to part out my hatchback and sell it, I want to hopefully buy one next year! I've been on here daily for the past couple months browsing around and looking in the classifieds. I can't really make up my mind if I want an AP1 or AP2...hmm. Owning a classic AP1 with the 9k redline would be superior but IMO, AP2's look better with the upgraded lights, bumpers, have a better transmission and suspension.
Hmm decisions, decisions! I suppose I shouldn't get too ahead of myself. When the time comes, hopefully sooner than later, I shall decide!
Thanks and hopefully you enjoyed the read. I look forward to becoming a part of this great car community in the future! See you around!

Wow that was a lot to read...well I'm also 23 and my name is also Matt. So see, you're making friends already. I would definitely recommend one of the newer model years if you can afford it, but IMO the 2002- were all great cars. I'm also a future owner technically because I've been without my beloved S for 3 years now
Anyway, have fun on these forums Matt and good luck

I believe my regional community is Allegheny. I live in Erie.
Welcome
BTW, If you'd be interested in a low-mileage 2005 suzuka blue S2000, look me up when your ready to buy. Unfortunately, I "might" be looking to sell mine early next year. And I'm also located in NW PA.....good luck.
