Getting ready to make an offer
Hi fellas. I'm getting ready to make an offer on an '06 Silverstone w/ red/black interior. As far as I can tell its a relatively rare color combination and I happen to like it a lot. Here's the deal:
30.5k miles, Honda CPO, seemingly good condition, 4 new goodyear tires installed at the dealership (a big plus because I'd hate to get a car only to have to spend $400+ on a pair of tires). Its far away so I haven't seen it in person yet. They are asking $21,988.
I was thinking of offering $19,800-$20,150. What are your thoughts, too high, too low? Be realistic; I don't think I can lowball $18,900 on a CPO car that they've put 4 tires on.
Thanks in advance.

The dealer asking price seems high or the $19,800-20,150?
I'm from Tinton Falls (near Red Bank, exit 109 on the Parkway)
I figure if they're a typical dealership, they traded it for somewhere in the mid to high 17's, spent about $600 on tires, minimal recon, etc.

Honestly they're asking price is just about right, but you should be able to get it for $2-3k less. Don't spend a penny more than $20k. For reference, I just purchased a 2005 with 17k miles for $18k, not CPO, clean title, near excellent condition (swirls in paint).

Anywho, I paid around 20k for my black 06 with 17k miles last week
I got to buy 3 new tires, for some reason the stealership replaced one but not the rest
I already got my rears done so they match up, the fronts go on saturday and I'm getting the alignment done for grins over at the STS on Shrewsbury. They were a little cheaper than getting them from Tirerack after you paid shipping.
After that though I get all my maintenance done at Precision Tuning down in Brick... I like harassing the owner

Actually, I drove your car back in Feb. I questioned the single tire replacement myself. At the time they had the car listed for 19,988 and they told me the price was firm and that they would "split the cost" of a matching rear tire with me. I walked out immediately. The following week they raised the price to 20,188 (for what I assumed was a matching rear tire). So they just added cushion to get back to what they really wanted?
But I have to say the mileage was outstanding and I was extremely impressed with the condition of the paint. There were no swirls to speak of in the Berlina.
I'm glad she made it to a good home. I just couldn't stand to deal with those folks after they said they'd split the cost of a single tire.
Take care.
