Hello everyone - new here :-)
Hi Guy's and Gal's
Hope you lot are a friendly bunch! Im new here - dont evn own an S2000 yet
looking to change that though and ive learnt the best place to start is on the forums, this place seems to be the place
Figured before i started bashing everyone with noob questions id introduce myself and tell you all a little about me :-)
Ive wanted an s2000 for years!! the last time i looked at getting 1 i was 21 and between these and the z4 i nearly bought 1 alas it wasnt meant to be, the soft tops gave the insurance companies a good (sh*t) excuse to tell me id need 5k+ to insure 1
so i bought my other dream car instead - a Mazda RX-8 - no doubt thats gonna cause a fuss.
Buying the 8 has created its own story too - near 5 years later i dont just own a couple of rx'8s i also own a company that fix's them and only them. No doubt you've all heard they can need quite a bit of fixing so im crazy crazy busy all the time
anyone whos remotely interested can feel free to read a little more on the website if you like www.rotaryrevs.com - save me poisoning the air on here with words like 'rotary' and 'mazda'
so anyway as much as i love the 8's and my daily corsa (yep no-one can afford to run an rx8 daily
)ive had an itch to buy something else for a couple of years, with the business settling down i can finally think about spending some money and sure enough the dealer across the road from my workshop has suddenly gotten an s2000 in, ive been eye balling it for a few days now and finally went over to have a look. its a blue colour with black interior, piddaly little wheels and a hardtop - i think he said its a GT model, full honda service history (not sure if thats worth anything, with the mazda's it aint worth the paper its wrote on!) 2003 and 56k on the clock £7495. unfortunatley its not the colour i want - i luuuurrrrvvvveeee balck cars! throw some red in there and im sold on it so you can imagine how pleased i was to see you can get red leather in black s2000's
.... must have been made with me in mind
so thats what im after!
Prices seem to vary from around £5.5k with low millage to 8k with high milage and the other way round etc etc etc ... i know the 8 like the back of my hand (probably better than anyone else) so seeing them i can pretty much tell you what its worth within a couple of mins. unfortunatly im not so gifted with the s2000
which brings me nicely to why im here. could you lovely lot please point me in the direction of a good buyers guide and or somewhere where i might find a list of various options and models. differences between the newer and older 1's, what to watch out for and any common faults or any mods i should look out for that may have caused problems etc etc etc etc.
Hope you can help please :-D
Kind regards
Ben Dunn

Cheers ever so much for the infinitely informative reply!
Mazda's are generally pretty reliable too (except the rx8 when they dont want to be
) as are BMW's, Merc's and a whole host of other marques...
That it then? there's nothing at all that the or any S2000 suffers from? the grease monkey apprentices in the honda dealerships can be trusted 100% and theres no real need for the forums other than the social aspect?
hope so :-) will save me a lot of reading!
Thanks for the welcome though
hopefully ill have 1 soon and can spend more time on here

Welcome, Ben.
The wealth of information on this forum can be overwhelming. This might be a good place to start though: Introductions FAQs - Topics and Resources for those new to S2000s and S2KI
Good luck!
