Hey Guys,
I've been lurking around this site for a little while now, reading tons of threads and opinions. I've learned a ton of info from some really knowledgeable people on here, really impressed. I've been in love with the S2000 basically since it came out, but I was too young and of course just couldn't afford it. I am not currently an owner, but am working on that at the moment. I'm not partial to AP1 or AP2, I know they both have their merits, but are their any maintenance issues, or major faults I should be looking out for before buying?
My current car (2002 VW GTI 1.8T) is giving me headaches, and I'm really looking to get into something else before it gets worse, and now the S2K prices are coming within reach. I plan on keeping whatever I buy next for a long time, which is what I do with cars. So I'm looking for S2k's with as low of mileage as possible, I found a 2005 with 2000 miles (no typo) last week that was going for $26,900, which is a little rich for my blood but was so perfect, by the time I got to check it out it had been sold. So now I've found another one, its an 03' with about 6600 miles on it, 2nd owner. I'm not sure about the price though, he's asking $19,500, and says he won't go below $18,500, though in my research on NADA, and Edmunds, put the value at $15,575, and 12,750 respectively, but Kelley Blue Book puts it at $21,000. I'm not sure if hes reasonable or not, of course because of the mileage I think that he thinks he has some kind of 'hope diamond' on his hands.
Sorry for the long story, I do tend to be long winded
but any kind of opinion or advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated, because I do look forward to becoming a part of the community and a proud S2k owner!
