Hi everyone! I've been researching and test-driving for about 9 months now to find just the right car. I'm looking in the small RWD segment. There's what to like about all the cars I checked out, but I must say the AP2's I drove were the only ones to check all the boxes.

I think the car looks great, and still fits in with today's new cars. The engine and exhaust are a treat for the ears, and the handling is spot on. I was astonished when I found out that it's electric assist. I'm 5'8" and I find my proportions leave my arms too far from the wheel and shifter in many cars (worst was the Fiesta ST), but the S2000 is perfect.

On my test drives, I loved the steering feel. Throttle response and shifts were telepathic, and I felt connected to the road and surroundings. Altogether a superbly engrossing and exciting driving experience, which is precisely what I'm looking for. Now to find the right one! The first I checked out had a very loud exhaust, the second had signs of imperfect maintenance. Ideally I'd love to find a Silverstone black/red AP2 with 50-100k miles and a solid maintenance history. I'm not in a big hurry, so I'm going to keep scouring the classifieds here, cars.com, etc. to find the right one for me.

My short list has been:

• AP2
• NA Miata (great styling and community, would need a lot of modification to perform well)
• Mazdaspeed Miata (great car, hard to find in good shape)
• ND Miata (new-car warranty is a plus, but lacks the sharpness of the S2000 IMO)
• GT86 (I hear great things about its potential, but disappointing engine performance from stock, and the styling doesn't quite suit me)
