Default Hi, I'm new (duh) and looking for 04/05 AP2

Hey everyone. I really enjoy this forum and I've been reading it for some time now. I'm a big honda enthusiast. I got a em2 civic when I was 16 (pic below) and have been messing with it for more than 5 years now, so don't think of me as a complete noob. Now I'm looking to make a step up. I'm currently on the market for a my04-05 AP2 and I was wondering if a could get some tips, advice, or anything that would make my purchase easier. I know the basics of buying a used car, but I was wondering if there is anything specific I should be looking for when buying an s2k? Any problems with the top, motor, interior, etc that I should specifically look for? Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys.

I dont know if you guys are into civics, but this is mine.

Here is a checklist that a member made up. It was designed for new car deliveries but is very handy to compare used cars as well.

In general, these cars have been very reliable (not unlike your civic I'm sure). Many of the bugs that plagued the line (top wear points, clutch buzz, oil consumption) were worked out as the car matured. At the top of this subforum are several stickied posts, be sure to check them out, as they contain some detail on issues be wary of and highlight year-over-year changes. But in general, the AP2s have very had very few issues. Best of luck with your search.

04-05 Models are solid overall, but there's an axle tsb and some top strikers get the 02-03 recall as well. The AP2 engines don't burn oil like AP1s do either.

Thanks guys. I'm about to go look at an 05 berlina and that check list will really come in handy.

I'd say just check the clutch esp if the car has higher miles on it cause that's an expensive job
