for the record, my 350z (stock) weighs about 350lbs more than a stock s2000.
...hardly a tank.
I have driven both.

The Z handles like a tank in comparison to the nimble S2000.

I have driven both too
....no it doesn't.

I'll admit that the S2000 handles slightly better than the Z, but I would hesitate to call it a tank in comparison.

The difference in their handling is no greater than the difference in the acceleration where the Z has an edge.

should I say that the S2000 accelerates like a sloth ascending a tree?
I wouldn't because it doesn't.

in fact, here are the differences between the two as reported by motor trend:

Just for the record...
...The exact quote was:

"should I say that the S2000 accelerates like a sloth ascending a tree?
I wouldn't because it doesn't."

I don't want anyone to think I was bad-mouthing.

I have driven and.... OWNED... (as in ownership, not beat haha) both.

I am also a member of all the major 350z forums and have been for quite some time. I was a member when there were just a trickle of aftermarket parts.

Anyways...The car feels heavier on the track. Maybe tank is a bit strong word. It also has a natural tendency to push. Not that suspension mods can change this behavior. The S doesn't understeer like the Z.

I feel like a broken record. harshfury, do you have a base? Cause I can tell you that my Track Z heavier

Unless you are considering a Lotus Elise, this is it. I've sold 2 s2000's persuing the bigger, badder thing. Just bought my 3rd one couple weeks ago because they are just amazing. Dont do the stupid things i've done. Anything else is a compromise.

Yeah, I have the base model (the lightest) of the models.

Their really is a huge range with the 350z in terms of weight...especially since they are all 300 horsepower no matter what model you choose (unless its automatic 287)

Mine weighs something like 3180 off the top of my head. A fully loaded convt weighs 3600+ lbs.

for the record...if I had wanted a convt I would have gotten an S2000 hands down. Not a doubt in my mind.

Have you gotten it weighed on a scale?

Serious question.

Start putting on aftermarket wheels, stereo, and 1/4 tank of gas....wow

see that weight fly.

i bet in your world "heavy" really means "light"

3180lbs. is a tank. 350lbs+ more than an awesome S2K is like, what, 36 less horsepower.

what a loser.

j/k

i know this guy. he has driven my super nimble 06, and i, in turn drove his "brick on wheels" Z.

but seriously... both cars are really fun to drive...on the street. i haven't had a chance to take either of them on "serious" twisty roads, i'm sure they're equally as fun there, with the slight advantage of handling going to the S.

conversely, the Z is a tad faster.

the S was my best choice because i've always liked hondas and 2seater roadsters and hence always wanted a S. i think it is the best deal comparatively to other roadsters like the boxter and z4. plus its really unique in its presentation. cool digital cluster, timeless lines, decent gas mileage, very driver oriented with a cockpit feel.

the Z is an even greater value for what you get and offers things i would have like to see on a "base model" S, like "cloth" seats and a lower price.

the absolute best choice would be an S2000 typeR coupe, with red recaros and all that junk, but unfortunately, and i guess, fortunately for some, it doesn't exist.
