How do you know the S is a good choice?
In your world a "tad" probably means a "ton"
It is interesting that you claim to love Hondas, and two-seat roadsters at that, seeing as how your last vehicle was a 9-door, twelve-passenger deawoo...the antithesis of the car that you claim to love.
ok....that is enough of us goofing around. I'm sure the people here don't want to hear our "chuck foolery"
As I said before, the S2000 is an awesome car. The 350z is an equally awesome car. We should all stand side-by-side in an eternal war against escalades and suburbans etc...

I love the Looks of the Z, however the interior seems a little cheap and The Nissan People (Dealers) Think there's Gold in the Trunk. My Nissan dealer here in Kalamazoo had four sitting on the Lot for months and still wouldn't Deal on one in stock.
I though they would work something out since I sold for a Toyota/Jaguar lot, and Knew the Sales Manager. What a great story for their sales people to use when trying to sell a Z against our cars. If it wasn't for that darn Gold in the trunk I may have Bought one.
I'm Very Happy I bought the S instead, and it was my first choice after driving Four different sports cars. The car seemed to be a lot tighter with less Body Flex than the rest of the Convertibles I drove. You also don't see as many S2000s as you do the Z, so that should really help our resale value in the long run.

agreed. The interior of the S is definitely nicer than the Z's. Although they did improve it, IMO, for '06. But still...the S is a lot more "cockpity" (new word)
Cockpity = cockpit-esque
Cock pity = insert definition here
They were very willing to deal with me at my dealership. I ended up getting it for only a couple hundred dollars over the invoice plus tax, license, etc... of course.
It took a few days but it was worth it in the end.

Nothing but complete respect for the Z coming from me. My buddy owns one and they definitely aren't "tanks". Obviously they don't handle as well as the S, but that's not to say they don't handle at all.

As previously stated mx-5 is really not in the same class as the s2k. Solstice is a crap box on wheels. RX-8 is a nice car but it's a tad slower and just not feeling the looks. I'm still in love with the rx-7. I like the 350z and it handles pretty well. I almost got one and as some other stated above I didn't really want a convertable either.
I started with a miata 8 months ago, and from their forum discovered that the car most of them would buy was an S2000. so when my money was right i test drove every 2 seater sport coupe i could find and the S was the clear winner. And judging from this forum an M3 or EVO will be my next choice, to go along with my S
The S is my choice because of how it feels. All these cars are quick enough for my type of spirited driving (actually much quicker than I need), so what I'm looking for is something that is involving, viceral, and special.
The S has a sense of occasion to it-- see the crisp lines of it's sexy bodywork draped over the raw essentials of a sports car. Climb in, you don't sit in this car, you put it on. Press the Start button, the engine shakes the car to life as it fires up. Open the roof and go.
The S can be used every day, but it is not an everyday car. It is raw, and tactile, and viceral. It has feel, something that today's car makers labor to engineer out of most of their offerings, including many of the sporty ones.
