I think mods are mostly useless on an S2000. I too was addicted to mods too since I had a few civics including a CRX before the S. When I got the S finally, I was surprised at the level of balance betweend streetability and track-ability all ready designed into the car. It was perfect out of the box. It doesn't need suspension to get rid of roll. It doesn't need brakes to help it stop. It doesn't really benefit all that much from IHE... Shoot.

If you get one eventually, live with it for a while, auto-x it regularly and just see if it needs anything. Sure, I've somehow managed to spend 5k on it just for auto-x purposes but hey, it took a few years.

FWIW, regarding the S as a winter car: this is the first winter that I drove my S through (I live in New England), after garaging it the previous 3. There wasn't much snow this year, but when it was really crappy I drove my Sidekick.

The biggest problem isn't control or driveability; the S can be perfectly fine. For me, it's more concern about the car. I don't wanna' beat the crap out of it with sanders, flying ice, potholes, and particularly Masshole drivers... Don't get me started.

Best wishes.

i live in alaska, so i know what you mean by not wanting to drive it in the winter. I would say sell the neon asap and get an s at the begining of summer, and then save some money over the summer and go buy yourself a 4wd toyota pickup for a grand or two. Winters help you appreciate a garaged car even more. Me and my buddy with a mkiv supra do the same thing and garage our nice car durring the winter and we both agree that when summer comes around we appreciate the cars a lot more. If you really want an s2000, then i am sure you will be able to get one. Me personally i had to get a second job for a while so i could afford it, but now that i have my s and only 1 job now, everything is cool. good luck man
