First time poster. I just purchased a 2004 sebring sillver with red?black interior! What a fun ride! I'm lovin' every minute of it. Anxious to get involved with other S2000 owners with events, rallies, etc.

I'm new to this site. have been using my son's S2000 as he's currently working away from home. Making the most of the opportunity! My "normal" drive is Volvo T5 GT with old XR3i as fun/summer car. I use VPUK site a lot. This one looks as detailed and helpful.

I'm close to purchasing a certified pre-owned 2002 S. I'm a former Honda fanatic coming back to the fold. I bought a 2002 Lexus IS300 several years ago, because I thought it would be an adequate compromise of Japanese sportiness and family-friendliness. Turned out it was way to small, and although I loved to drive it, it did not offer the involvement I had hoped.

Also, my wife would not let me get a sports car until I got her an SUV.

So a few weeks ago I bought her a CPO MDX, and she is now cheerful and content. My turn.

Here's the problem:

1. I live in SW Ohio. This will be my daily driver. You know those people selling 2000 S2000's with 22k miles? That will not be me. I'll be putting on 15k a year, all year around. I realize this is not very practical, but screw it, we already have a family car, we don't need two. My question is, will this car be usable in winter, with snow tires? We don't get a ton of snow, but maybe 10 days a year roads will have snow on them. My dad has one car - a Z4 3.0si with summer tires - he suffers during the winter but considers the "inconveniences" worth it. Sometimes I just have to drop off his groceries for him, you know. So am I crazy, or can I live with this car (with snow tires) over the winter?

2. I have a young daughter. She will ride in the MDX 95% of the time, but sometimes I imagine she'll ride with me. As far as I can tell, the passenger airbag shut-off switch was added only in 2006, too new for me. I also hear that dealers can install these things if you fill out the NHTSA paperwork. Has anybody done this? Any idea what the cost is? Am I a bad father for planning to put my daugher in a bag-disabled front passenger seat, even if it's only once in a while for short distances?

I am looking for help rationalizing what is probably not a terribly good decision, but I love the S2K too much and can't let it go. I test drove one and remember everything I loved about my 1996 Honda Civic DX - slick shifter, smooth motor, fun to toss around. Add a ton of style and power...there's nothing else like it. A pure, premium sports car wearing a non-premium badge, unbelievable reliability, stunning styling that never gets old, and you can pick this masterpiece up for $20k CPO with no worries. What a deal. I'm totally psyched.

To clarify, she's 11 months and will be in a rear-facing kiddie seat for another month...
