Got your PM mcassidy. Tough call going new versus used. Folks out there have to decide if they expect to do lots of modification and void their new car warrantees.
Since you mentioned that you intend to track the car, I would recommend looking at a used car and then personalizing it to your taste.
But, the new CR might just be exactly the car you want... If so, again, tough call.

Hey folks, I run a small company called PIC Performance. I'm not sure if many have heard the name, because we've been bigger in the Civic/Integra/Evo community. We design and manufacture coilover systems for these cars (among other parts), and the S2000 is a platform that we want to develop for next. I think I'll be hanging around the racing/competition forum as we don't seem to have a dedicated Suspension forum on this site (why not?).
I'm new here, and actually don't own a S2k yet, but I'm debating buying one. I have researched several other cars around its range and I think this is the one for me. I love the way it looks. Power is nice but, whatever I get I plan to immediately turbo or supercharge it. I love the low weight. I'm looking for the best used car I can get after dropping about 7k extra in it. I know some cars will give you 50hp for that much and some 200hp, so I gotta find the best value after modification. I mainly will be driving in the city, and I do like to visit the 1/4mile drag strip, alot. Is this the car I'm looking for? What do you think? Oh yeah, and what is the best year model to get? Ap1 and Ap2, what's the difference?
Hi, I'm new here as well. I just bought a used Silverstone '03 as a bday/Christmas gift to myself.
It's intended to be a second (technically third) car, for track days and weekends. It's great to see some real technical info here; a nice change of pace from other forums. My past Hondas include a '90 Accord (315K mi on the original engine and auto trans) and a '93 Prelude VTEC (one of the firsts to have arrived in the US). It's nice having a Made in Japan Honda in the garage again.

Hi peoples my names camilo n i just (a week ago) bought my 1st (but not last lol) s2000 silverstone/black with 22,500 miles i just walk into a dealer to just pass time n there it was huh i fell in love! Anywho the previous owner, you can tell didnt driver it nore maintained it very much/well so the car was mint but very dirty, like behind the chairs ohh it was dusty as hell n the oil was black so i changed it (put 5w30 mobile 1 fully synthetic) and the car drivers like a dream! Any suggestions? Im not too happy with the way the radio sounds, but little things u know?!
The name is Craig and I've owned my S2K for a year on 1/20/08...already put 26,000 miles on it...yes it's a DD, LOL! I still look forward to driving it everyday and plan to keep it for a very long time. Had been wanting one since they came out and made the mistake of a test drive while getting the oil changed in my "Element"....I left in the "S"!!! Installed FIPK yesterday and wow, even more fun now....Been thinking bout joining a local club in the Dallas area but work so much don't know how that would work for me. So anyone in the area that can sway me, bring it on...would really like the group drives the most I think.
