Hello my first post. I bought an 02 Silverstone s2k about three weeks ago thanks to the many praise about the car from this forum. I almost bought an STi, but now having owned the S2000 for a couple weeks I definitely made the right choice. I wanted to say thanks to all the members of the forum for helping me make the right decision.
Hey guys whats up? I have actually had my car for about a year and a half, and have been a member of this forum for some time but I am just recently becoming more active in it so I thought it only right I introduce myself for the first time. I have a 2001 S2000, Berlina Black with the red interior. I got HKS exaust, a comptech clutch and flywheel, and I got a few other things in the works, tryin to get a lovefab. I live in the DC/Virginia area so anyone else who lives hear, gimme a holler if you want. I look forward to meeting all of you. Thank God for S2Ki!!!! Everyone's collective knowledge has been really invalueble to me in my decisions regarding the future of my car.
I am a proud new owner of a '01 Berlina Black S2000. I was actually shopping around for a used Acura TSX or the "out of my budget slightly" TL. I own an NSX so I was looking for a replacement for my Integra GSR. I wanted something a bit more luxurious and practical; you know, four doors, back seats, luxury gadgetry, etc. So, when I couldn't find what I wanted at a good price, I considered the S2000. I'm single, live on my own, and decided to throw practicality to the wind...again.
I found my S2000 (I call her Isis, weird like that) at a dealership for $20k w/50k miles on her and a clean CarFax. I was thinking of going ahead and purchasing her, but they flat out told me they had no intentions of bargaining with me.
The next day, my best friend found the SAME CAR on Ebay. They were auctioning her off with a buy it now price set at $17.6; and here, they wouldn't even budge for me. The reserve had not yet been met. The current bid was at $14k.
I went there the next day and asked to use their computer to print up my insurance info (btw, my insurance is less than my Integra GSR, nice plus!). I went online and printed up the insurance; then, I quickly pulled up the Ebay page. When the salesman sat with me at the desk, I simply said "Sir, since you guys said your $20k price is firm and you are not willing to bargain with me, do you mind if I just buy the car here on Ebay now, so that I can just take the car home while I am here??" They first tried to tell me it was a different car. Then they tried to tell me that the $17.6 was a current bidding price. Eventually, they acquiesced and sold me the car at $17.6. I don't know if I can call it a steal, but it's better than "no bargaining at all".
Btw, My CarFax is open until March, I believe if anyone wants me to run a VIN for them.
Well, again, I am just saying hello. I am in the Miami area so, S. Florida guys, show me some love. Offer advice on anything I should be wary about with Isis. What upgrades I should look into first. I got a 2 yr warranty, so I want to stay on top of whatever may be expected to go wrong with an S2k.
hi guys. i have a s2k '05 silverstone and only 3 weeks with it. i'm from puerto rico so if anyone from PR feel free to pm me to chill out and meet. great forum. thanks guys!
Hey everyone! I'm new to both S2KI and S2000 ownership. In mid December I bought a 2002 S2K from the local Honda dealer (I was thinking about getting a new Civic but my impulses got the better of me). I've owned a lot of fun cars, but this one takes the cake! Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I look forward to soaking up as much info about the S2000 as I can from here. Thanks for the great site!
