Introduction, and pricing question
Hi everyone
first an introduction, and then a question. I'm a junior in college I don't have a lot of mechanical experience with cars, but I'm looking to learn. I've been saving internship money for a couple years, and I'm ready to buy a MY00-02 s2000. I am EXCITED.
My question is this: Why is it practically impossible to find a s2000 at KBB value? Even if you consider excellent condition private party value, almost every car I've found in classifieds and online has been significantly above its recommended value.
Being on a tight budget, I'm getting frustrated. Does anyone have advice on getting a good deal on a used s2000? Is KBB worthless, and I'm just being naive? I'd really appreciate it if somebody could fill me in!
Thanks in advance. I'm really looking forward to getting involved with the community here.

Depending on where you live the price will be higher if its a nice market for convertibles especially for the summer time. Just keep your eyes out because it takes a long time to find a great deal. Also you can always negotiate prices all I can really say is just be patient and good luck.
KBB is BS. Ever do KBB on a C5+ vette? Most vettes are worth 2-4k higher than what KBB estimates.
KBB is nowhere near market value. It overstates the worth of many sedans and underestimates the worth of most sports cars. It thinks my Mazda 6s is worth a fortune to private parties, but on the market they only go for about 14.

How ironic that you mention the 6s.. Thats what I'm coming from, but I have yet to sell it. Now I've been doubly disappointed by KBB.
No matter! I just might have to wait for another couple paychecks before I sell the 6 for the s2000.
