We used to have an IS350 and I agree with you. However, that is because it is simply an automatic transmission with a manual override. No "manumatics" are as fast or fun as a true manual. If you want a paddleshifter that will crack off fast, precise shifts, try Ferrari's F1, BMW's SMG, or best of all, VAG's DSG.

I also went from IS300 to S2k. IS300 with suspension mods handled better than stock s2000 imho. But this is probably also because I havent been able to extract max performance from the S2k yet. There is so much to learn on this car. IS300 is better suited as a daily driver. However, once I drove the S2k I never looked back. S2000 is the most fun I ever had in a car. Sure you give up luxury and space, but it is a pure sports car. The only other car that beats the S in this category is probably the lotus elise. I also switch back and forth from an Evo. If you want power, Evo is the car for you. If you want fun, get the S.

It all depends on what your looking for in a car. Go test drive them and see what you like best.

If you want Evo vs S2k comparison, I also wrote a review on this thread:

BTW, i am assuming that when you talk about fast, your thinking of straightline performance. In that case, modding your is300 will be better than getting an s2000.

Fast got old pretty quick for me. I drive a '94 FD and I haven't even had it a year. I have modded it to the tune of about 350rwhp which is a lot considering it has a curb weight of 2800 (Bout the same as the S2K's right?). It was a blast for awhile but now I never get into the power due to the fact that it just tears the rear end loose and I don't feel like dropping another 3 grand into it to get more hook on the ass, specially since I have dropped almost $5k into in the last 8 months.

I guess I basically got to the point where I had to either sell it or throw more cash at it to make it faster. So I figured I would just get away from it all together. Specially since I am taking a new job which is going to have me away from home about 3 weeks out of a month. That one week I don't want to spend under my car instead of driving my car. And they have a more demanding maintenance schedule than most sport cars you see on the road daily.
