Default Likin it...

Heys guys,
I'm finding lots of good S2K info here-thanks. I'm planning on buying my 1st S shortly, though I've been a "car guy" ever since I could hold a crayon. Gave up my last 2 seater 14 years ago, a restored Datsun 280Z, when I started a family, and now @ 46 I guess it's time to start my "mid life crisis" (yeah, whatever ). I've test driven several great cars, and right now the S2K is my #1 pick. That MX5 I drove would turn, but it was just too slow...

hey welcome! always good to have new people! what year S did you drive? try and drive an ap1 (00-03) and an ap2 (04-current) so you can see which one is better for you. I like the ap1's for the 9k redline and more raw suspension, but you might find an ap2 more comfortable for your needs. also, the 06 and up ap2's have vehicle stability control (you can turn it off) , which is a plus, but they also have a drive by wire throttle setup. the DBW throttle can limit what mods you can and cant do, and some say it affects the way the car feels, as well. one other thing the ap2 differs from the ap1s on is the CDV, or clutch delay valve. basically it prevents you from "dumping" the clutch to prevent un-necessary driveline shock. the CDV can be removed though.

this forum is one of the best out there! lots of info to be had if you search (really cool search function now that it's been redone), but feel free to ask if you need anything.

one more tip, if you've got a question about an exhuast HERE is a great starting point!

have fun and enjoy!

james
