Long time Honda Owner..
Let me start off by telling you a little about myself. Im 23 live in Orlando FL. I've owned 3 Preludes and a 94 RX-7. Currently Im selling my Prelude to get into an S2000. I've done alot of research on the S2000 driven an AP1 and AP2.
So far in my research Im familar w/ all the differences from year to year. The whole comfort thing I can get used to a noisey cabin and not having alot of cargo and passenger room. My Prelude has an Apexi N1 System and I can tolerate that not to mention my FD was loud as well. So everything as far as things some people complain about or that I've seen people nag about is fine w/ me I mean its a Sports car.
Im looking at a 2001 S2000 GPW w/ the red seats and side panels it has about 23k on it guy is asking 20k for it but im sure i could talk him down to 18,500 or less. I think 18,500 is a fair price for that car.
Some of my questions are I know the 00-01 S2K's come w/ the plastic windows when the top is up is it hard so see thru the plastic window at night? What are some preventive ways from keeping the top from ripping? (I have a buddy of mine w/ a 00 and his is all tore up) Is there any Transmission or diff faults w/ this car from 00-01?
Last I'd like to know how reliable the S2k is. Im asuming this car would just be as reilable as all my Preludes I've owned its a Honda as long as you take care of the oil and tune ups on time. I don't see the S2000 as a high maintainance car like my FD was I went thru hell w/ that car. Also I plan on using this car as my DD for about a year or so anyone and weekend cruiser I plan to put about 400 miles on the car every 2 weeks so anyone that uses their S2k for there DD anything you could tell me from your experinces would be great.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to reading the responses and owning an S2k

Yup, what Frank said...
Check the FAQ at the top of the forum to help you find some more information, and feel free to post more questions if you have any. This site is a wealth of information (and some disinformation, too
).
To directly respond: the S is not a high maintenance car. It does have some quirks though, chief among them being its appetite for oil in the early year engines. You must keep an eye on the dipstick every fillup or two to make sure you're not running low.
Since you already made the point about comfort, that's the only concern I offer to folks looking at the S as a daily driver. Also, if you have cold / bad winters where you are, you need winter tires (absolutely) and you have to be accustomed to rear wheel drive not to get yourself into trouble.

Thanks for the replies.... As far as the oil my Prelude is prett much the same especially since i drive mostly hwy miles. Its looking to me that the S2000 would be a stress less car for me to own and reliable..
Im looking for some suspension recommendations for the S.. any suggestions? I want to eliminate wheel gap and a close to stock ride...
