Long time lurker, recent owner...
Over the holidays I made my first major (as in >5000$) car purchase ever... and it was an S2000.
I've always had Hondas (84 accord, 93 civic hatch, 94 del sol... not riced!) and about 4-5 years ago a friend of an ex bought his S. I loved the looks and after getting a ride in it I was hooked.
Unfortunately I was still in college at the time...
Well here I am a few years later and ready to upgrade to an 'adult' car from my faithful little del sol... so naturally I look at its newer cousin.
I've been lurking on these message boards from time to time since the friend introduced me to the car, but much more over the last 6 months or so while I tried to get 'mentally prepared' for the purchase. See, not only is it my first major car purchase... I also had to learn to drive stick.
I know, I know, wince! However I'm grateful for the stories from people who purchased their S2k without having previous stick experience... grateful for the HUGE amounts of information and little details the people on this forum discuss, having these forums as a resource really helped with the jitters and the questions and instilling a healthy respect for the car even before I bought or drove it.
I have a feeling my friends are getting sick of all the little 'S2000 fun facts and trivia' I love blabbing on about.
I'll admit the first couple of weeks weren't always pretty... there was a period where I was paranoid that every jerky shift was going to do incredible damage, or that I'd 'never get it' and was doing complete dishonor to my beloved car with my horrible shifting and occasional stalls... Thankfully I still have the del sol and was able to take it slow and only drive the S2k when I was 'prepared' to give it a proper go (it monsooned like crazy here for like a week, being able to let her hide out of the rain instead of adding inclement weather to nervous driving was a huge bonus) ... but as of this month I feel like I'm 'over the hump' and am actually relaxing and having fun driving her!
Anyway, enough rambling, I just wanted to share (it's quiet here tonight!) and toss out a 'hello' now that I actually feel like I own the car sitting out in my driveway.
2005 Berlina, all stock, all mine.

Welcome! I also learned how to drive stick on my S2000 - piece of cake, given how great the S2000 transmission is
Looks like you've gotten the hang of it. It will only get more fun from here on out as you learn the limits of the car. Enjoy, and be safe!!

Nice story...Congrats on the purchase. Take it easy until you really learn how to drive stick in different types of situations. Not only weather conditions wise, but reaction time in different situations. Hopefully, you understand what I mean.
