Looking for advice on purchase ...
Hi .... Ken here. I'm considering buying an S2000 but I have two questions. I notice that they significantly increased the flywheel inertia in the later models and also added a clutch delay of some sort. Seems like both of these would diminish the pleasure of the wonderful shifting that the car was known for. Can these be easily remedied?
I also read that the S2000 has unusually high insurance costs ... not good especially here in California where every other nut on the road is under-insured so those of us who are financially responsible end up paying. Any reason for the unexpected insurance burden (besides seats getting stolen a lot apparently)?

I've driven both- an '03 AP1 and '08 CR back to back on the same day. I noticed no issues with shifting/clutch quality in either- in fact, didn't even consider the difference.
As for insurance, it costs me $28 more /month compared to my 2000 Civic SiR (Canadian model). That's with 1 mil. full coverage and $300 deductible. Had the same insurance carrier for 23 years. No accidents/tickets. Live in a relatively low insurance region so monthly is about $130 for the AP1. Both cars are only insured for 7-8 months/yr.
good luck.
