Default Looking for my next car, seeking your advice

I currently do not own an s2k. I am looking to fix that in the next few months.

Background:
I have had an 01 and an 08 cr.
I liked the 9k redline of the older car. I had an aem intake and I liked the noise increase. I tried a neuspeed exhaust and the drone sucked. Car was tail happy but I had non oem tires and drove it like an ass.
I felt like the cr was nicer (forgiving) to me but I may have just settled down a bit (not pushed it hard) since I am now over 30… Left this one stock because I wanted the soft top and figured it was going to be temporary.

So for the new car I am hoping to get one that I will have for a while. Below I will list what I am thinking about doing with it and hopefully y'all can point me in the right direction for the year to get.

1: The car will be for fun driving on street, not a track toy, and I want ragtop so no CR. I miss the manual in the s2000. Car has to pass emissions keep ac/etc and not make me deaf. I also want to be able to drive it across the country if I get an itch to do so.

2: That being said I would like to mod it to get some more super reliable performance out of it (reliable more important than power). I will likely work on other aspects like brakes and suspension too but I am concerned with power as I see the 2.0 vs 2.2 as the first item to figure out.

3: I will likely leave it NA. I like the cool sounds these cars make and there is always something faster (and probably will be in my garage as well) so I do not need to chase any crazy power goals.

4: ITB's seem cool, but can they be done with their benefits without sacrificing reliability? Sounds like putting a filter on the end of them is self defeating, but I am guessing an intake system could work (like my m3 had). I don't know much about the ITB set up so feedback would be great. My understanding is that you need a pre 06 for ITB's. I feel like I would likely go 00-01 for this set up for the 9k rpm. Loud is ok if it is only loud under heavy load, if these are deafening at idle I am out.

5: If no ITB I would likely go pwjdm intake, larger throttle body, exhaust, hondata reflash for power. Most likely on a 08-09. I could be talked into the older car for this too though.

6: Stroker kits and items like this are a reality in the unlikely case that they make sense for my intended use.

These are just the ideas I am thinking about, and I am open to other suggestions and IF I any of my ideas need correction don't be afraid to hurt my feelings.

thanks in advance!

Tyson

I would think that a newer model with Hondata and bolt-ons would be a better bet but it's ultimately up to you. You could look into lowering the VTEC for better mid-range, get a good intake, and exhaust set-up (maybe gernpipe+dingle?).

This is a cool thread if you haven't seen it yet: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/991...n-pipe-dingle/
