Talking From Mazdaspeed 3 to S2000!

My name is Josh and I purchased a 2005 Grand Prix White S2000 with 25k miles on Sunday. I'm really enjoying the car so far, it's a blast to drive! S2KMedic and I went to pick up the car from Sarasota on Sunday. I really appreciate the help he has been providing with my new car as I certainly have allot of questions!

I have a a question that I would to ask of the members of S2KI, as you seem to be the experts on this car:

Regarding the clutch delay valve, I understand this is activated to keep the stress from doing a hard launch from breaking the transmission or rear end, but does it also effect hard shifting through every gear? When S2KMedic and I were driving the car back to my place, we noticed that when the engine hits VTEC in almost every gear, it feels like the clutch slips. However, if driving the car normally, shifting into 6th and going WOT, the clutch does not slip. I had S2KMedic drive the car to experience the issue and he believes it's the clutch delay valve causing this problem. What's the deal here?

Other than the issue with the convertible top wearing through, any other issues I should be looking for with this car?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, that is the CDV. Its a pain to remove but there is a DIY. I tried to remove it, but ended up buying an AP1 slave cylinder. The ring and pinion in the diff are what get stressed, but not the torsen. Plus, AP2s have stronger diffs anyway.

Another thing to look out for is the clutch master cylinder. They tend to leak if you don't flush the fluid often and the only remedy is replacement. Get into the footwell with a flashlight and check around the plunger.

Thanks for your help flyingtoaster!

Also, since I am 6'3, I need to find a way to lower the OEM driver's seat. I've read through the DIY article on this website, however, I would like to be able to easily return the seat to stock if needed. So far, the only seat rails I've found that work with OEM seats are the Backyard Special seat rails.

Are there any other lowered seat rails that are compatible with the OEM seats?

You're welcome, J speed.

I don't know about seat rails since I'm 5'9" but I'm sure there's a thread about it if you search. Also change your differentail fluid at least every other oil change. Amsoil 90w110 is reccommended around here. Once you see how bad the fluid looks you'll know why.
