. Alright. I am not biased. IDK If you are looking for a cheap, rwd, fast, car; the s2000 is that not. It will cost you roughly $5k to get a turbo put on the car. I saw you liked imports. But I will say something about a domestic. Have you looked into the 05-06 Pontiac GTO 6.0 400hp? We don't really know what you are looking for our the money you are trying to spend.....

That being said. You could get an EVO for 24k+ and spend about ~$1000 for about 75whp. EVOs respond well to mods. If you are looking for that look at Subaru or the EVO.

Our cars are not good if you want to spend like ~$100 to achieve 25whp. It isn't going to happen.

Get a S, boost it in some way, and you'll enjoy it. It costs money. You have to pay to play
there are a few domestics I actually like, dispite me not wanting to..
The G8, GTO, vette, 03-04 cobra, to name the ones off the top of my head but they are either out of my price range, or not known for taking turns with the best of them. If cost wasn't an issue I wouldn't have asked this question and would have bought what I really want... A lotus Elise. (i simply can't afford)
When you put it that way. I'm looking for a newer model car that handles well from the factory, is 15K or less used, gets down the quarter in low 13's high 12's (with next to no money put into them). I hate to even claim the 17 bucks I've spent on my car but I'm being realistic/ honest.
I am drawn to the s2k based on looks. It looks quick, makes me turn my head every time I see one on the road, I'm sure feels awesome around curves, is new. I've never been in one other then in a show room. My opinion of one is based purely off of either magizines, looks, or here say. I believe Honda to be one of the very best manufactures in the world. It's proven time and time again they know how to make a car that lasts forever. The idea of a reliable car that is quick in a straigh line, off the line, and around curves is what I want while not breaking the bank, and room to grow when it gets boring. I think Honda had the same idea's when designing the S2K. I want to move forward with technology and speed.

Understandable. The G8 I personally have heard a lot of problems with. People have washed the car leaving the dealership and paint has chipped off, etc. Supposedly they have terrible paint . You seem to be pretty hooked on the S. I would buy it, enjoy it N/A stock for a couple months, save your money, and buy a turbo or supercharger. I know you probably feel like you need everything at once and done with, I am the same way. But that leads to debt and other problems. Look in the cars FS threads. There are many S's going for 15-18k already with a turbo and other parts on them with low miles! Look at them first.

s2k is not the right car for you if you want a car that runs 12's with little modification unless you wanna use nitrous. It'll cost you $4k and up to turbo it. You seem very in love with the MR2's you should just get another one.

Let me ask you this, what is the driving difference between the older model S2k's and the newer model ones? If I bought a 2000 model S2k would I regret my purchase and wished I had gone for the slightly more expensive newer model S2k's?
Do the newer models take better to after market mods? Are they noticeably different in stock/ or modified from? What is a realistic WHP/ Quarter mile time of both models? I'm sorry for asking such noob questions. I haven't done my homework on either model.

I also have a hard time believing 250 WHP on 16 psi on a bone stock MR2.
I've seen mr2s with intake, turbo back around 15psi make like 220-230 whp.

I'm very sure you were looking at a rev 2 mr2 to not believe MY WHP quotes. One car i've done my research on is the mr2. My dyno graph showing my current MR2 was done by the #1 MR2 shop for MR2's in the country, ATS racing. I really can't get more official then them. They set the bar for MR2's. You are more the welcome to ask them about me and my MR2. I was down there july 2009 for an MR2 meet, which included a dyno session at thier shop. I'm sure they remember me as I have been there more then once.
Here is my car in front of the door bay at ATS, 10 hours away from where I live

That thought has crossed my mind more then once. This is the 4th mr2 i've owned. A 87, 88, 91 NA to T, and my current. I do love the mr2 and proudly speak of it and what I know it can do. Yes I am a Fan boy of the MR2. I haven't said the things I hate about the MR2 so, i'm sorry for making it sound like gods gift to man. It's not a perfect car, and i've spend waaaaay more then 17 dollars on mods to MR2's. I was just quoting my current money spent on my current MR2. In reality I'm about 20 grand in on MR2's/ mods collectively.

Never driven a Ap1. I have a 2005 Ap2. Couldn't answer that question....

I wish you the best of luck. But 17 bucks won't do you much in the S. As some have said, SRT-4, Vette, G8, GTO, etc...are you better options.

But here's what I found for less than 17 bucks on Ebay you may be interested in.

Good luck with your decision.
