My S2000 Adventure
First off, my name is Jay and I have been a long-time Honda owner. I have had many turbo civics, etc over the years and just recently decided an S2000 was the car for me. I daily drive a 2000 Insight and need something more fun on the weekends.
I test drove one that was a little too beat up, and was getting impatient to find the right one when a coworker found this car on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ROADSTER-/350813512693?_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649&ssPageName= STRK:MEWNX:IT&forcev4exp=true#ht_46069wt_838"
I talked to the seller over the phone...and put down a deposit. I'm flying out tomorrow, with my fingers crossed. The car is already paid for since I didn't want to fly out once to look, then again to pick it up after getting the check from my bank. Not the best way to buy a car for sure, but I hope its worth the risk.
The car has a clean carfax and initially the seller said it had all the VIN tags but after staring at the pictures for the past few days I think its missing the pass fender one. Too late now lol. I fly out tomorrow to drive the car from Florida to NY with my wife (who doesn't drive stick lol) I'll update this thread with my progress.

I would pass on that car:
- At 141K miles, the car has been HEAVILY driven as a daily driver at 23K miles per year. The driver's seat looks very well used.
- Something is funky about the left front. Looks like some type of scrape on the bumper cover and one pic shows a hood alignment issue on the left side. Budget at least $500 to refinish the front bumper cover, it no other work is needed.
- While the car is advertised as being "bone stock", I don't think that is the stock shift knob. (I know, something minor, but a telltale.)
- There's an obvious roof repair.
I find that fun verts bought in the northern states are generally in better condition with lower miles as they are NOT used as daily drivers and are babied. Lots of folks in the south use these cars as daily drivers and the condition reflects that.

Sooo...I didn't die.
I've been so busy and tired but I finally remembered to make a follow up post to this.
I made the trip in two days. I tried my best to make it as far as possible the first day but I was operating on about 3 hours of sleep. I left my house in NY at 1AM on Saturday, flew to FL, and drove until about 1AM on Sunday, stopping in northern NC.
One crazy taxi driver, two flights, 20 hours of driving and one speeding ticket (2 miles from my house) later, here it is:

A bit of carnage along the way:

The top was a bit worse for wear, I had to fix some spots that were sewn previously. I'll be sealing and patching it from the inside to get a little bit more life out of it.

Overall, I am more than happy. The car has certainly been driven, has rock chips, a resprayed fender, etc, etc... but I'm happy. It made it home without any problems, and handles like nothing else I've driven. Expect some more posts from me in the future as my adventure continues.
