New AP1 Owner in North Virginia
Hey everyone,
So I purchased my S2k yesterday. I feel that I got a good deal on it. 2000 year model, silver stone with Red/Black interior. 122,500 miles. Not excessively high mileage, but not really low either.
Previous owner had done a few things to it recently that made it more appealing. I will say the car could use some body work (few dents here and there) and a new paint job. The front lip has taken a beating over the last 15 or so years....
So car got a new top with the glass window about 4 years ago, I consider that a plus. Other changes include....
Tinted windows
AP2 Wheels
Brand New Tires all around
H&R lowering springs
New Radiator from Honda
New Brake Calipers, Rotors, Pads and Stainless Braided lines
All Fluids where just flushed/replaced
That's basically it. The car is all stock for the most part. It does have the annoying clutch buzz but no other issues that I have discovered. There is 0 rust on the car, although I believe there really shouldn't be with the frame/body being mostly (or all) aluminum.
So my plans for the car are pretty limited. I am not getting crazy with it as I have already been down that road with another car, blew the motor and I don't want to relive that. It took some years to recover from the $$$ invested and lost. I plan on staying N/A for a while.... Maybe a S/C down the road, but even if I do that I will be setting it to 7-8 PSI. I am content with the stock power to weight for now, I imagine ill look for a boost in the future though.
So for the next year I plan to select and install:
Cold air intake
Headers (maybe, I understand the stock headers are pretty good)
High Flow Cat
Exhaust (Probably the Invidia Q300)
New Clutch (This car is on the original still according to the Previous Owner, no slippage even at higher RPM yet but there is that terrible clutch buzz crap)
These are my roots. The S2k is my first, but my first love was this 93 Mazda RX-7 FD. I loved this car so much, and I was looking for another but had to be honest with myself that the cars are becoming harder to find at a good price, support for them is also dwindling down but I don't see the S2K market going anywhere.

I've got a Silverstone AP1 too! Like you, I put similar mods you're looking for into it.
K&N FIPK
Invidia Q300
Berkley header + HFC
4.44 cryo gears
The stock header is pretty heavy. The berk is heat treated and probably 3 lbs.

How do you feel about the upgrades you performed? Happy with them for the costs? Got a link where I can find that header?
