Default New to the Clan

New guy here. I just made the leap to the S2000 Clan - 2006 Silverstone, red/black interior - expected in by April. I've researched the crap out of the S2000 about every two years since inception - all reviews, read a bunch on this great forum, etc., and finally decided I owed it to myself. Heck, my Dad got his Alfa Romeo when he was 43, my Mom got her RX-7 when she was 47...I deserve this S2000 now that I'm 45, dang it!

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the experience, and hope to be an active member of S2K International!

Cheers!

Congrats, Chas. The waiting is the hardest part!

Cheers back at ya'.

Nice nickname, by the way. Are you a trombone player? My nick comes from Satchmo...

Thanks! I have been pondering the purchase on and off for so long, the waiting won't be too tough, although I feel like I should pinch myself to ensure I'm not dreaming....

Nickname? Naw, not much music coming out of me. It's an nickname a buddy tagged me with about 20 years ago - can't really remember the origin - but coming from him, I'm sure it was meant in a sordid, fun loving way.....

It was three months or more, factory to delivery, back in 2002 when I ordered mine. Just take the time to read up on everything and get fired up.

Yikes! I just got a message from the dealer - my Silverstone w/red-blk arrived yesterday, that's 2 - 3 weeks earlier than expected! Now I have to bail from work to wrap up financing this morning and get over there to pick it up before I go to a dental appointment. Sheesh - talk about ulitmate highs and lows in one day!

Anyway - I just wanted to let you all know I'll be a true clan member sooner than anticipated, and...opps - just wet myself - gotta go....

One more thing - I wanted to post what I paid for my S2000. I'd gotten invoice info through Consumer Reports, and did an internet quote request to a dealer down the road who I know is not the "hard sell" type. I told them what I knew they pay for S2000's and that I wanted to start from that figure and bargain up vs. starting at MSRP and bargain down. When I got the quote, I didn't even say "Boo", I just said - "You got a deal". I think it's a fair deal:

2006 Honda S2000 Roadster in Silverstone with Red/Black Interior Selling Price: $30,995.00 License/Registration Fee: $261.00 Documentation Fee: $45.00 CA Tire Recycling Fee: $8.75 Sales Tax: $2,405.60 GRAND TOTAL: $33,715.35

Cheers.

You did well, Chas. FYI, you can input your VIN information to your user profile here on s2ki, and that'll change you from an "enthusiast" to an owner.

Best wishes.
