Default New to forum and looking for s2000

Hi everyone, I have always wanted an s2000 but being young I have never been able to afford insurance on a car like this. I alawys had big engined cars my first car at 17 was a 1600 si escort, then 10 months later I got a clio 172, and then moved to a 2.0lt turbo megane r26. After having the meg for a year or so I passed my bike test got rid of the meg and got myself a ktm duke 690. So now i have decided to get myself a S2000 at very last.

Ive been looking on autotrader for the last few weeks and found a few that i like near where i live. Just wanna ask a few questions before i go ahead and buy like...

I know mileage is best low but is 100k ok for these cars.

Is the newer shape much better than the older shape

Is it worth trying to find one with the hard top to or is the hard top easy to come by

Im 24 so looking at 2k for to insure it, high but too high??

Never driven a rear wheel car before will this be an issue at first

Best colour for wear

Are the red interior s2000s more sort after

Are they juicy on fuel

Things i need to look out for ie rust in places, seals things like that.

what sort of price should i be looking at for a 2001 model in good con or a 2004 plus model in good con

Is beeing 6ft 2" going to be a problem.

Sorry for all the questions but dont want to waste my time looking if it aint for me.

Thanks Greg

Hrmm. You have a lot of good questions.
Check out the used car buying guide posted in s2000 talk.

Personally, I like the ap1. The 9k redline was a high selling point for me.
If you're in europe or other countries, I believe you get that with ap2 refinement.

Hardtops are always a huge plus but I love my soft top.
Would love to one day have both.

100k on s is nothing IMO.
Since they run timing chains and not belts, you won't have to worry about that for a while.
There's s2ks here with well more than 100k on them.

I'm 6' tall and fit in the s with little room to spare.
I'm told you can buy lower seat rails if you're worried about that.

There are plenty taller folks on here who would better answer that.

Good luck on your search.
S2000 is def a unique car that I feel is prob the most fun to drive.
