New Guy wants Repairable S2000
I've been a Corvette and Honda Guy for ever. Built my first Honda from a wrecking yard during the gas crunch of 1978. I had taken a stripped 1974 Civic and put in a 1978 Civic wagon motor/trans and suspension.
I had only driven corvettes, and not a honda at that tme, even thought many of my corvette customers did.
I got it basicly together and it was still was missing the windshield, when I decided to take it for a spin around the block.
So I put some goggles on and took off.
I wasn't too impressed, but thought what do I expect for 38mpg.
A couple days later when I got around to tuning-up the motor, I discovered 2 broken spark plug wires!!
Yes!, I had drove it around on 2 cylinders. So I took it out again and burned rubber for 30ft! The 1974 weighed a couple hundred pounds lighter than the 1978, so I ended up with lots of power and good gas milage too.
I've had several Civic's, Accords, Preludes and Acuras, but not a S2000.
Recently I watched a movie called; "Who Killed The Electric Car"
I was so disgusted by the fact that GM motors had Crushed 1,100 perfectly good electric cars, The EV1, then lied about it, then bought out 60% of the battery company that had some supper good batteries, only to try to squash there development, that I decided not to own anymore corvettes. I've had around 50 of them and I restore them professionaly.
I've also worked on other sports cars like Ferrari's, Lotus and Lamborghini's, but I'm looking for something easier on the pocket book.
So, I'm looking for a S2000 thats needs work. I'm in the SFO, Ca area, but I'm looking on the western states as well.
What my long term goal is to convert one into electric. Theres a couple electric cars around here that will go over 100 miles per charge and do 0-60mph, in 3sec!!
They use laptop batteries, lithium-ion.
I think the S2000 would be a neat super electric car. Butch

Cool idea Butch. May I suggest you to post on the Bay Area forum? I believe there was a guy who had his S2000 stolen and stripped. You may want to get in contact with him to see if he wants to buy it back and sell it to you. HTH.
Well I picked up a 02 on ebay with 66k miles, wrecked, but still runs and moves. I'll be looking for a front end and posted in the wanted Forums. Just a little while before the fun begins! Butch
