New here. Looking to get a 2001 for weekend/track.
I found a 2001 with 79k miles and the seller is asking $14k. Seems like a good price to me.
I'm looking to use this car as a weekend and track car. I was taking my 2000 S4 for Audi track days, but I had an "incident"
and rather not go through that experience again with my daily driver.
So... besides getting a compression test, leak down test, and having it inspected, what else should I look for?
Suggestions for tracking? The first time out I would like to see how it performs stock on street tires, but I would like to get a roll bar. Who is making roll bars, and which one would you guys suggest?
Thanks,
Josh

No suggestions for tracking as the s2k is my DD...but I would definitely go with that deal. My best friend just bought a 2001 w/ 70,000 miles on it for $18,000 from a dealership about a month ago. Paid too much but he wanted Spa. Anyway, good luck.
Did you buy it?
As far as tracking the car, change the fluids, get an alignment and run it! Heck, I only have 2,xxx miles on my '06 and have completed two track events already. Depending on your past experience you might want to consider tires, but with a new car, I always run the stock stuff until they wear out.
You can never go wrong with Toyo RA1's.
The S2000 is equipped with a factory roll bar, however, its not suitable for some track event organizers. The events I attend have no problem with the factory roll-over protection equipment. I am not knowledgable regarding the aftermarket roll bars, sorry.

The car I was looking at had previous damage, so that's a no go. I do have some other leads.
The event(s) I'm looking at doing would require a rollbar and harnesses, which I'm fine with. I think I would get those anyways.

Check the racing and competition forum, Josh. I think that'll lead you to the rollbar and harness options. I think the Cusco roll cage is fairly common for the track monsters around here. Not sure.
Best wishes in your search.
