Hey guys, I have been lurking on this forum for a couple months now, never made an account until I purchased my s2k about 2 months ago. Trying to read and learn as much as possible now that I finally own one of my dream cars. A little backstory on me, you can skim over this if you just want to see some pictures of the car lol. I got into cars when I bought my 2010 Mazdaspeed3. Originally I bought the car just as a basic daily driver. I had zero plans to modify it and no buddies into cars where I lived. After 1 year into ownership I moved to a bigger town in Ontario Canada. I met a large group of people that were huge into modifying cars and driving the backroads. After one drive I knew that backroad driving was what I was into. About a year after I moved the speed3 decided to bend the compressor wheel in the turbo into the housing killing the turbo completely. At this time I had been spending tons of hours on forums and originally planned on buying one of my three dream cars, S2k, 997 porsche turbo or lotus elise. After some consideration it made more sense for me to throw a new turbo on the speed3 and continue driving the car as I saved up for something small, light and rear wheel drive to rip backroads with. I did a mild big turbo build on the speed3 with a gtx2871r turbo. Car made 360whp on 24psi and was a complete blast to drive. Even after doing this it did not scratch my itch for something small and light.
After looking and making some stupid purchases I ended up buying a fb rx7. In my mind I could build this into an s2000......... well you just can't. I started out with the 12a and lots of suspension mods. The car handled well if you could deal with the ridiculously stiff suspension. I don't mind uncomfortable cars, I'm young and it doesn't bother me. Fast forward like 2 months the 12a threw an apex seal and destroyed the motor. I had always wanted more power out of the car so I again did hours and hours of research and decided to take the plunge and built a 13b rew for the car. Everything was done, motor was studded and pinned with a bridgeport so I figured I'd get at least some time out of the motor before needing another rebuild. I went too big on the turbo, and the car made good power but was super laggy. I revved to motor to 8500 and saw zero boost till 7000 rpm. I got the car tuned and it made 600whp on 16psi. This was way overpowering the chassis and the lag made the car undriveable on the backroads. I drove the car for a week before the center iron cracked and again I was left without the car. All through this, my basically stock with upgraded turbo speed3 was my daily and worked amazing This made me realize, I don't need a crazy modified car, all I needed was something fun to drive that worked.
This really opened my eyes, and after looking at what I spent on the rx7 I realized I could have bought one of my dream cars for less then I had into the rx7. So rx7 was parked and I started saving. After lots of research, it's a theme here lol, I overthink everything that I purchase and every mod I do. I decided I wanted an ap1 s2000, preferably an 03 with the updated banjo bolts in berlina black with the black interior.
Now for the part you guys probably actually care about. The plan was to purchase a car next season, but a deal popped up that I could not resist. Due to where I live, I usually have to drive 4-6 hours to pick up cars and parts as most cars for sale tend to be up near Toronto. Well a 2003 berlina s2k popped up only a 10 min drive from me. I knew I had to at least go look at the car. The car is lightly modded, with all stock parts included with purchase and in immaculate shape. The guy that had the car bought it bone stock and our local Honda dealer installed all the aftermarket parts and serviced the car. I work just down the street at the Toyota dealer and we know the guys over at Honda quite well. The car has never seen rain, or snow, was kept in a heated garage its entire life and was rarely driven It has 80k km on it which works out to just under 50k miles. The interior looks brand new and the exterior doesnt have a mark anywhere on it.
Well, I couldn't pass this up and in about 2 hours after the ad was posted on Facebook, I purchased the car. This was an amazing day as I never thought I'd own one of my dream cars. Got the car home and washed it up and ceramic coated it as Honda paint especially Berlina is very soft and very prone to scratches. I plan on buffing off the coating every year and reapplying to keep the car looking brand new. The few mods that were done were all things I would have b=done so it worked out perfectly. As it sits, the car has a takeda intake, skunk2 megapower exhuast, berk hfc, ap2v1 wheels powdercoated black, ap2 front bumper with a molded ap2 oem lip and a small stereo system. The car also has a brand new canvas hardtop and I put a windshield in it as it was the original and had some marring I didn't like the looks of. I have plans for this car to make it the ultimate backroad fun car, but i decided to leave it as it for the rest of the year to figure the car out. Im so glad I bought this car as it is everything I ever imagined and more. I've never felt so at home in a car ever. I now know what the hype over this car is. I can easily say that this is going to be joining the speed3 as a car I plan to own forever. And its just a bonus that it revs higher then my rotary did and has already lasted longer then any rotary I have ever owned.
If you made it through all that, (I'm pretty wordy, sorry.) then here are some pictures of the s2k
This is with a friends fc rx7, he loves the rotaries even with all their issues.
One picture of my rx7 if anyone is curious.
I read the whole thing...lol. Nice color scheme on the S2k with the black on black with red Honda logo. I always liked the older RX 7s too but was afraid of the rotary engines.
Thanks everyone. Since I live so far south anywhere northern Ontario is such a change and everywhere is gorgeous. Plus the amazing roads up there too haha. And yes I will for sure check that out!

Lol, I wasn’t sure if anyone would once I posted it and saw the wall of words. I’m not usually one to like black wheels on a black car but I think it actually works on this car. I love the look of the rx7s but after dealing with all those issues with the motor I can say that I can’t see myself own8ng another rotary anytime soon. I still help my buddy out with his so I see all the issues still so I’m really not missing out on anything haha.
I personally love backstory to why someone ends up in this car, so i read the entire thing haha. Congrats on the purchase! I wish i could have jumped into a Berlina Black S2k as well but i found a deal on my Suzuka Blue that i couldnt resist.
